Q: charger: i didn't get a cable to charge the power pack with? so the light now no longer works and i have a power pack that i cant charge up?

Hi, Mine came with a USB cable which I put one end in the power pack and the other end in a usb plug.

Q: Is the usb cable a micro one or 'normal' usb? Are replacement cables purchaseable?

It has a normal fixed usb and no replaceable cables , I had this light for five years and do alot of cross country riding alot of the time in late evening and found it to be very reliable and very bright, you can buy extra or replacement battery packs for this as I carry a spare on me. I do recommend this light for the price

Q: Would the front light still fit snugly on a thin handlebar.i cycle to work on a fold up and the circumference of the handbar is quite small.

Yes it's very very bright so it will show up in the day time. I would recommend the lowest setting when it gets dark.
