Absolute Gem
“Without Prejudice” is an incredible tale of woman’s journey. It beautifully depicts underlying naked reality of our society and unravels some of the most horrific truths. “Munni” lives with her surrogate parents “Kamala” and “Magiram” in a small village situated in the valley of Chambal. She is merely loan to the couple who don’t have a child of their own till she is ready to embrace her new life or rather, thrown into it.The story unearths the practices of Women trafficking, tracking back its origins to British India. As Munni steps into adult hood she is taken to Mumbai so that one day she too, can be a pleasure for other man. It’s incredible in such a subtle yet powerful way author has able to deliver his intent and vision to the readers. The more you read the more you get engulfed by the story. As the synopsis of the story states that Is a woman only as good as her body? Is she merely a piece of art that men use to pleasure themselves? Devasis has put forward an absolute gem that demands your attention.

It's worth the money
This book makes for a compelling read. I wanted to read up on the lives of professional dancers and this is a well researched book that provides great insight on the subject it covers.

This book literally takes the readers on a ride of a bar dancer's life.
Mumbai, the city of dreams but also the city of lies, deceit and conspiracies. More dreams are broken in this city as compared to the once that are fulfilled. This book takes the readers on a journey of Mumbai's nightlife specifically the bar life of a bar called Chandini Bar.This book was such a different read for me. I haven't read anything about a bar dancer before this one. I did read some romance books with strippers but none which revolved around a bar dancer and that too by an Indian writerThis book literally takes the readers on a ride of a bar dancer's life. The book highlights a bar dancer's dreams, her desires and the problems she faces. How she is treated and how she is deceived. The special thing about this book is that all the characters mentioned has a story of their own to tell. This book kept me engaged right from the beginning towards the ending, even if it got a bit boring somewhere near the middle. The story began in Delhi, went through Mumbai and also through Benaras. The transformation of the female lead from Munia to Pallavi Singh was commendable and thrilling to read. This is definitely not an easy read, it covers some sensitive subjects like love, lust, the power of money, murder and everything you expect from the life of a bar dancer.----My Take----However the plot was interesting and unique but it did take a lot of time to build up. slow. The writing style was quite good for a debut author. The plot was perfect. So all in all, I enjoyed reading this one.----Recommendation----This book is perfect for those who likes to take a chance on new authors. Personally, this book was a 'venture-out; for me. I'd like to recommend this book for those who likes to read something different and thrilling and are not repulsed by the description pf sex in a book.
