Our 2nd Devonshire Faucet - Chrome Finish and Low Water Pressure Issues
We selected Kohler Devonshire hardware when we remodeled our 1930s home back in 2004. After less than 10 years the chrome finish corroded on the original faucet. On the plus side: #1)I am glad Kohler still makes a Devonshire style faucet, so we were able to match our other hardware. #2) It took our plumber less than an hour to install it, and it looks nice. On the downside, and the reason I am not giving it five stars is because: #1). I expected a Kohler faucet that cost well over $100 in 2004 to last at least 20 years. I had very old Kohler hardware in a prior home with no corrosion issue, which is why I chose Kohler for our remodel. I was very surprised to find corroded spots that actually corroded all the way through the metal. I take very good care of my home and did not abuse the faucet in any way. #2) I knocked the second star off because the water pressure through this new faucet is significantly less than the 2004 Devonshire faucet. I have to run the water longer to adequately rinse soap my hands. If the low-pressure aerator was an effort to save water, I doubt that it works, considering how much longer it takes to rinse my hands. I'm including a photo of the corrosion on the original faucet and a video demonstrating the low-water pressure.
