Exactly what it says on the tin
I decided to go for this phone after my iPhone 6s repeatedly gave up on me, the battery was absolutely rubbish. I did a bit of research on the Land Rover Explore (LRE) and began to take an interest. I do a lot of wild camping, particularly in winter and the iPhone just wasn't up to the task, especially when using the GPS, in fact it was terrible. I contacted a few people who had used the LRE on expeditions in incredibly cold climates and they all gave the LRE a thumbs up. The reservations were the camera on the LRE was not as good as the iPhone.I decided to go for it and ordered one. I have been an IOS user since the iPhone 3 so was a bit worried about transferring to Android. I needn't have worried. Within an hour I was asking myself why I had avoided Android in the past, I absolutely love it. The phone itself is exceptionally well built, not as rugged as the CAT phones, they still hold on to some style. Are they heavy? Well they are heavier than the iPhone and Samsung but seriously, if this phone is too heavy for you to carry, you need to change your butcher! the Adventure pack does add weight but again, its not an issue. The reception is fine, the speed of the phone is fine, maybe a millisecond slower than my old iPhone but its not something I would lose sleep over. The Adventure pack and all the Land Rover apps will be a godsend for me when I am outdoors and the thought that my battery will last more than a few hours whilst I am freezing up on Kinder Scout wild camping in the middle of winter makes me feel so much more secure. I have total confidence. The camera? It takes decent enough photos for a mobile phone. I have a Nikon D4s that I use if I want to take good photos but even that wont take them underwater! It you want a phone that looks slick and pretty as you pull it out of your suit pocket in a wine bar trying to impress people then you may want to stick to the immensely expensive iPhones/Samsung. If you are going outdoors hiking, canoeing, skiing, climbing, mountain biking then this is the phone you need. Don't be put off with the reports you read about the camera, its just fine.I will be going to Mongolia in March where temperatures will plummet to -25 to -40. I have absolute confidence my LRE is up to the job. It even flies my DJI Mavic air superbly!**EDIT** After just one week I have had to send the phone back for repair. I put the phone in my pocket with my keys and lose change. Climbed up a hill, took it out of my pocket to take a photo and the screen was chipped. This is quite worrying but they are going to have a look at it and hopefully repair it. Still happy with it though.***EDIT***It turns out I was being thick. The phone didn't have a chipped screen, it was the factory fitted screen protector that was damaged, the screen is absolutely fine.Phone still Excellent - Customer Service Excellent - User Stupid....

Too many short cuts on quality for the price.
I have had the Land Rover phone for one month now. I am someone who spends as much time as I can in the hills / mountains. After breaking three phones from dropping them onto rocks etc, I decided i needed something more robust. My search led me to the Explore phone. Most of the phone is a good match for me. It's speedy enough for most apps I use. Has plenty of internal memory. I really like that I can use the screen it wet conditions and the adventure pack with a more powerful GPS is good addition for navigation in the hills, although I have not used it a great deal yet, so cannot comment on how well it functions. However it's not all unicorns and lolly pops....The camera on this phone is awful. It's like something off a 2009 device. The shutter speed is so slow that anything not completely static blurs, the colours are awash and its next to impossible to capture a half decent snap. This is a huge let down so forget being able to capture nice shots of landscapes while on your outdoor pursuits. I got the explore to use as my my daily phone, and every time a moment crops up where you want to grab a picture of your kids, dog, friend, view etc you quickly remember you have a phone with a dud camera and it's not worth it. I have almost considered just using the phone for outdoor pursuits and using my old Samsung at home / work - but then that is pointless , why pay £500 for a phone I can only use 10% of the time.So I would say this, if you're in the market for a rugged phone and you want to take at least semi decent pictures, don't bother.Such a let down, why would they design such a phone at the price point, knowing that it will be used in wide open landscapes perfect for capturing and put such a poor performing cheap camera inside.EDIT: 6 Month update. Overall not happy at all. As said the Camera is just not worth using. The GPS has started to fail, while driving along major A roads within towns maps will often lose connection to GPS meaning you need to reboot the phone. The so called tough glass is just covered in scratches and chips. I really regret getting this phone now. I am about to replace it. My advice is to get something like an HTC, Motorola, Sony Ericcson which is half the price, but with a far superior camera. Then get a rugged protective case and water proof cover.

Bought out of desperation.
Bought out of desperation.Described as new, but I'm not sure about that! The box was unsealed and the packaging wasn't great either. It's behaving more like a badly refurbished phone, but I suppose you get what you pay for as it was very cheap for a mobile.I would like to return it but can't be bothered with the stress. As long as it makes phone calls and texts then that'll do.

Still unable to access/activate 2nd sim card. Blue tooth and wifi keeps switching itself off, very annoying

Highly recommended for explorers and adventurers!
After three months, I'm really happy with my Land Rover. I noticed many people complaining about camera, battery and simplicity. Well, I updated android version immediately and I'm working with Android 8.1.0. Battery lasts enough with moderat use and the extra pack is an amazing complement. I bought an extra battery, no expensive so I have a good supply. Camera is excellent, I was so worried about this due to the critics of some buyers. But what I really, really like more from this phone is: a. how well it protects my eyes. It has 'night light', which is a lovely ambar tone and has 'Night' function which gives 2 grades of a reddish soft color. b. Its apps are so useful and unique. Great price and excellent phone.
