I got one very similar to this, not sure if it was the exact brand, free when we purchased a kayak at a brick & mortar. The staps flap like crazy and vibrate the entire vehicle at any speed over 20MPH, no matter how tight you have them. The foam blocks are only useful if you don't already have crossbars on your roof rack. If you do, then you'll need to find something else, like towels or pool noodles you can cut to fit around the bars. I will say this: The product did was it is designed to do and that is hold the kayak in place, It also scratched my hood due to the straps fluttering.

To remove the vibration from any tie down just give it a twist or 2 at the ends before tightening down. The pads are easy to use & the Best car-top carrier for the price. Can be used on a canoe as well.
