StarTech.com DP2HD4KS DisplayPort to HDMI 4K Audio/Video Converter

The item arrived in two days and worked as advertised as a Display Port 1.4 and HDMI 2.0 adapter. It was identified as an "Overall Pick" on the Amazon Website. StarTech's DP2HD4KS didn't have as many sales as some other vendors, but I think that's due to the price. The cheaper ones had more sales but also a lot of complaints about failures shortly after the end of the 30-day warranty. I'm assuming the reliability will be good since, unlike a lot of other manufacturers, StarTech has a three-year warranty.

Delivered on time and worked as expected. Connectors were properly tight and not loose.

Cheaper cables weren't clear on whether the sound was carried along with the video signal. I can confirm that this adapter does both video and sound. It works well streaming from my laptop, whereas streaming wirelessly via Roku often produced lag and 'choppy' video. Wish it was a little cheaper though, but it does the job.

Well made with high build quality. My only complaint is not really Startech's fault but it would be nice if they were more clear. This adapter cannot produce 4k at 60hz Display port has that capability yes, but the adapter reduces it to 30hz when the signal is changed. As far as I know that will always happen. It cannot change the signal and retain 60hz. I will run more tests and update when I can but so far I have had no luck. Also know that I am doing this on a computer with gtx 980 in sli. The computer is plenty powerful is just that my Sharp 4k tv will not see the 60hz signal it does when I just use the HDMI 2.0 port. My TV is the Sharp LC-60UD27U

I am using this to connect a computer with 4k video (DisplayPort) to a 65 inch 4k TV with HDMI. It worked fine for about three weeks. Then it exhibited the following symptoms: no video for varying periods of time, tearing video, and flickering. The same symptoms showed up at 1920x1080 resolution, so it wasn't a problem with the 4k video. I tested it with different DisplayPort outputs and the problem was still present.

After messing with cheap adapter cables to put a touch screen monitor, and a HD monitor on an HP Pavilion, finally splurged an got this cable. Boom, fixed, after hours of driver struggles. Projecting to any HD monitor requires a 4K adapter, so carry one around! Startech has a support line that you can chat too, and they'll make sure they recommend the right cable.

I eventually traded out this adapter for the Club3D DisplayPort to HDMI adapter Club3D Displayport 1.2 to HDMI 2.0 UHD (CAC-1070) . The StarTech adapter does allow 2160p (4K) full UHD resolution, but only at 30Hz, which is lower than what is supported by most graphics cards and UHD displays. Also, the StarTech adapter lacks a locking plug, so I found it apt to slip out if I accidentally pulled on the cord. I also had intermittent problems with HDCP pass-through, especially with my Blu-Ray player. (In my opinion, HDCP is an especially unfriendly form of DRM, so you never are guaranteed that it is going to work.) For only a few dollars more, you can get a better adapter with better design (i.e. -- a locking plug).

Questo adattatore attivo è venduto per la risoluzione UHD e funziona veramente a questa risoluzione. L’ho installato fra l’ingresso HDMI di una TV UHD e l’uscita DisplayPort dell’adattatore video 4KDP della Plugable, che funge da scheda grafica virtuale e permette di pilotare, dalla porta USB 3.0, anche di un portatile, uno schermo esterno alla risoluzione UHD. L’adattatore StarTech ha funzionato immediatamente e senza fornire alcun problema. Necessario per la conversione da DP a HDMI alla risoluzione UHD.

Recomendado. Buscaba un adaptador activo que me sirviera para conectar el segundo monitor por DP, ya que tengo dos pantallas HDMI y mi gráfica un puerto HDMI y tres puertos DP. Probé y devolví otros adaptadores mas baratos porque con ellos no me detectaba ninguna pantalla si arrancaba con los monitores apagados. Ahora detecta perfectamente la señal del monitor como si fuese un HDMI nativo y lo activa en cuando enciendo el pc. Es un poco mas caro pero vale la pena.

Primero lo primero. Compre esté cable porque mi tarjeta de video una Geforce GTX980 Ti solo viene con una salida HDMI, el resto de los puertos son 2 DVI y 3 Display Port. Tenia la necesidad de conectar otro dispositivo HDMI y no queria comprar un Switch de HDMI, por lo que estuve investigando y lei que si bien existen existen cables adaptadores de DP a HDMI dependiendo de la fuente de video y composicion del cable es si transmite audio o no. Decidí comprar este StarTech porque aparte de tener soporte para 4K menciona que trae audio activo, y Si. Este cable transmite Audio y Video. Ya he comprado antes productos StarTech y la verdad es que no me han fallado. Buena marca y buena calidad.

J'ai un PC agé sous windows 7 avec un port vidéo principal displayport sur chip graphique intégré intel 4400 HD. J'ai essayé sans succès 3 adaptateurs displayport->hdmi avant d'enfin trouver celui-ci. Le fait qu'il soit "actif" semble faire la différence. Précédemment j'ai testé un premier prix à 10 € et le HP à 20€, retournés car ne tenant pas l'image plus de quelques minutes. Ces adaptateurs étaient passifs. Cet adaptateur fait donc du bon boulot, reste à savoir combien de temps il va tenir, il semble chauffer un peu. Je mettrai ce commentaire à jour s'il lâche.

Nice quality adapter, if a little on the expensive side. I am on my third one now - I find that they last a couple of years before developing connectivity problems, but that's probably down to me overly flexing the devices as I plug/unplug them fairly often.
