Instant Power Septic Shock - Septic Tank Treatment, Drain Cleaner Liquid Clog Remover for Septic Systems - 67.6 Fl Oz 1 Pack

About three years ago, on Christmas morning while hosting our relatives, my septic lines became clogged and waste water began coming up through the shower drains. We had already pumped out our tank about one year before this, after it did the same thing. Two days after Christmas, a local septic company came out to see what the problem was. They said I needed to pump my tank and that I needed to replace the clogged drain line system at a cost of about $5,000. But the guy who actually pumped out my tank said that before he had his job where he could now pump out his own septic, he used a liquid septic cleaner to break up his clogged lines and he flushed down a monthly enzyme packet for his tank. I looked at the Amazon reviews and thought I would try the Instant Power liquid, instead of replacing the whole septic system. I removed the dirt over my septic tank access and located the 6" round concrete plug on its top. The plug has a wire hoop which you can use to pull it up and off. Then, I put on some latex gloves and pulled up on the access plug. This allowed me to remove the plastic toilet paper filter tube (about 2 feet long). The tube keeps toilet paper from going into the septic field. I easily pulled out the plastic filter, sprayed it off with a garden hose nozzle, poured the 1 gallon of septic shock into the opening of my drain field, reinstalled the filter and concrete plug, and covered over the plug with a folded-up HD trash bag. The plastic bag keeps the dirt from being wedged between the plug and tank and makes the plug easy to remove the next time. I then refilled the dirt over the plastic bag and placed a 12" by 12" concrete stepping stone over the dirt covering my plug, so I could easily locate and dig down to the access plug in the future. If you don't know where this access plug is located on your tank, you can either have a septic company pump out your tank (they have to access this plug to pump it out anyway) or just pay them for a visit to open up the plug for you. The plug will probably be stuck for them when they try to remove it, if it has been a few years. But, by removing it and covering with plastic, it will be easy for you to remove the next time. The result was that by doing this, my septic began working great and never backed up again, saving me $5,000. Now, I maintain my own septic system by adding a pouch of septic enzymes, each month, through the toilet. Then, every 3-4 months I can see and remove my square concrete paver, the dirt and plug. I pull up and spray off the toilet paper filter, and pour in 1 gallon of liquid septic shock into the septic line bed. Since my initial treatment, I find the septic waste to now be a liquid, instead of thick sludge. And there is very little smell when the septic tank is opened. I suggest that if you use this method of maintenance for your septic tank and bed, you can save yourself from a $5,000 system replacement as well. It can also extend the life of your septic system for many years. P.S. be sure to use only "Septic Safe" labeled toilet paper in your toilet.

Symptoms: Water started draining slowly and toilet closest to septic tank started gurgling. Called a plumber and "over the phone" he diagnosed as a septic issue and suggested to contact a drainfield repair person. Then contacted called multiple drain field repair companies, so called "experts", who all said the same thing: "YOU NEED TO REPLACE YOUR DRAIN FIELD BECAUSE IT'S MORE THAN 25 YEARS OLD". HOWEVER, NOT 1 PERSON DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO SEE IF IT WAS ACTUALLY A DRAINFIELD ISSUE! Quote: $5000 to $7500 (Wow!!!!!!) Then so called "septic expert" suggested, drain the tank and this will give you a couple of months to save your money. Septic company who came to pump the tank, and said "Ya, it's your drain field, we have seen this hundreds of times. Pumping the tank won't fix anything". Well, it helped for a few weeks at first and then the problems started again. REMEMBER, NOT 1 PERSON TILL NOW DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE! Money was tight, and couldn't afford $5000 to $7500. We decided to try septic shock and everything else in market in an attempt to speed up the water draining. Well, NOTHING WORKED. The problem re-appeared again, and we had guests coming for the weekend. We decided to pump the tank again, after 3 months 1 day before guests arrived and then sign the contract on Monday to replace the drain field. Sunday, 1 hour before the guests arrived the water started backing up and not draining at all. Worst, this time raw sewage started backing up (YUK). I couldn't believe a 1050 gallon septic tank would be full in 2 days, with two people and no other discharge other than showers and toilets into the tank. Called another septic company on Monday at 7 am come and pump the tank again and when they opened the tank there was A HUGE SURPRISE.....Tank was only about 20% full, WHAT??????? The septic guy said, it's a blocked main drain line. The new septic company jetted the main drain line from the septic tank, and a few packets of solid septic shock comes flying out of the main line which had caused the block that resulted in slow water draining and gurgling. After 6 months of this episode everything is working fine. We saved money in unnecessary drain field repairs and most importantly NOT ONE SEPTIC REPAIR COMPANY OR PERSON SUGGESTED TO CLEAN THE MAIN LINE. We learned a valuable lesson and would suggest to try the below noted before embarking on replacing a drain field: Step 1. Call a plumber and INSIST on having the main drain line cleaned and inspected with a camera. Step 2. Pump the septic tank Step 3. Punch holes in drain field, because if it's a biomat issue, this will fix it in a hurry Step 4. NEVER TRUST THE WORDS THAT COME OUT OF A DRAIN FIELD CONTRACTOR BECUASE THEY DON'T MAKE ANY MONEY BY DIAGNOSING THE PROBLEM. This product didn't help to clear the blocked line, but may have helped to clear the drain field issue.

My septic leach field failed after 42 years (of which I own the house 10 years). The system failed because it was built in 1984 on the front yard where drop shaped driveway was built to allow driving on top of the leach field. Had I known that I'd re-do parking so that cars wouldn't drive on top of the leach field. Also the design was bad - looked like a snake instead of 3 channels drain lines. Having said that I recommend this product. Because if you flush something like this once a year, and every other month you drop septic treatment packet in the toilet, chances are even messed up by design systems can still be maintained to barely, but till work. My septic wasn't pumped for 12 years (or 22 according to official records). My assessment (I owe 2 houses with septics) you'll do good pumping them every 7 to 8 years unless signs emerge septic tank needs pumping sooner. I think modern bio-chemicals do give you a chance to fix your problem. Especially if you live in the house. My leach rebuild job was $12,500 (estimate). Hope it won't get higher after inspector confirms leach field was installed right.

Item description details doesn't say how many bottles are actually recommended, the bottle tells you you'll need several for a week then less the next week and if still have a problem then repeat with several bottles in a week then less the week after, I guess you repeat this procedure till you either finally get results or get tired of spending money on more and more and more bottles

This stuff works miracles! My septic system was completely clogged and spewing into my yard. I sprinkled some around the clean out and within less than 12 hours the smell was gone con and the bacteria had already unclogged the septic system! I didn’t even pour it in the toilet yet! It was too easy to use! And, for the price it does what the super expensive stuff claims to do but faster! So great value for the money in my book!

My septic system is 45 years old. I must say over the years I have babied this system but recently I was getting a buildup of what looked to be waste in my distribution box. I found 2 bottles of Septic Shock at HD on clearance. I purchased both bottles and put both bottles in a week apart. I have risers on both my tank and distribution box and am able to add this directly to my distribution box. I checked it today and the distribution box is cleared up and water is flowing freely to the leach field. I have tried numerous products over the years but I am really pleased with this product. Will continue to use this at least once a month.

We had an issue with the septic tank plugging up when draining into the septic bed. There must have been a blockage somewhere deep in the piping leading into the bed. I cannot directly say this was the solution. For the price, it was a good value and was part of the action plan. It is worth trying compared with replacing the bed altogether. We had a contractor come out and tell us we needed to replace the bed. We ended up going a different route. I called a company to pump out the tank. Once the tank was drained, they still had the lids off. I took an old garden house and poured 2 bottles directly into the outlet pipe leading to the septic bed. I let it work for two weeks while the tank filled back up. It looks like it worked as it was no longer backing up. Two months later, I pulled a lid off again to take a look, I noticed that some paper was going into the pipe as we had no filter (30 yr old concrete tank/bed). I called a plumber to install a filter and add the plastic easy access lids. Just before he arrived, we again emptied 2 bottles into the outlet pipe with a garden hose. So far so good. Also, the plumber advised us to limit the laundry loads to a max of 1 a day to give the septic bed enough time to drain. When you factor in laundry, dishwasher, and showers, it can strain the system.

Highly Recommend – This Product Saved Our Septic System! We used Septic Shock at our rental property after the field bed became blocked, causing waste to surface from the second chamber of our 40-year-old septic system. Since it’s an older system with no distribution box, we couldn’t pinpoint where the blockage was — only that nothing was draining from the second tank. My husband poured three full jugs of Septic Shock directly into the discharge pipe leading from the second partition to the field bed using a 1.5” hose. He flushed it lightly with water and, within a minute, water was already starting to return to the tank — clearly the field was still blocked. We let the product sit for two full days. • On Day 2, we flushed the line for 7 minutes — no return of water! • On Day 4, we flushed for 15 minutes — again, no return. We’ve now gone two weeks with normal use, and the septic system is still performing well. No more surfacing, no more backups. 🛠️ After years of maintenance headaches and concerns that we’d need a full field bed replacement, this product may have saved us thousands. Time will tell, but for now we’re thrilled with the results and crossing our fingers it holds. HIGHLY RECOMMEND if you’re dealing with a sluggish or blocked leach field — especially on older systems!
