The bird feeder is specially designed feeder for only chickadees, small woodpeckers, titmouse, nuthatches, goldfinch and other small birds. Locking lid comes completely off for easy filling and cleaning. Other small bird feeders have very small filling openings, which makes filling them difficult and cleaning nearly impossible. Filling and cleaning is a snap with clinger only. Holds 2 or 3 times more than other small bird feeders which often run out quickly. Heavy U.V. Resistant, thick plastic construction much stronger than other small bird feeders to give consumers extra years of use and enjoyment. Feeders come boxed, but a beautiful full color tube wrap will sell them off the shelf for you when displayed out of the box. Large capacity holds 3.5 to 4 cups of seed. Available in yellow color.

Add a cake dome baffle to comletely eliminate larger birds
Very nice, sturdily constructed feeder. I purchased this to replace two similar feeders that had seen better days. The Songbird Essentials Clinger Feeder is built with heavier plastic. To fill, twist the top and it clicks off. OK, for those who still have Blue Jays, Red Wings, Grackles, House Sparrows, House Finches accessing this feeder (it is a given some of these individual birds will figure out how to cling and quickly grab a seed before falling off) here's a solution:1. purchase a bakery cake, the ones that come under a plastic dome. Or, beg your grocer to give you a cake dome. Given the size of the Clinger Feeder, get a medium to large size.2. Eat cake, save the plastic cake dome.3. With a sharp knife or box cutter, slice a cross-shape in the top of the cake dome (not too big, not too small. You can always increase the slot sizes).4. Slide the cake dome down over the hanging ring of the Clinger Feeder so it rests on the feeder's top. Be sure the bottom of the cake dome falls near or below the bottom of the feeder. The idea is to force feeding birds to fly up and under the dome, then cling to grab a seed. I have used plastic cake domes on my tube peanut feeders for years - all the large birds have given up on the feeders protected with cake dome baffles. Chickadees, Nuthatches, Titmice, Carolina Wrens, Goldfinches, all quickly learn to use the feeder with the baffle.

Did not stop my larger blackbirds
I purchased this feeder to try to give the little Finches a feeder safe from the damn Red Wing Blackbirds that just take over and gorge in mass numbers. In the first few hours it seemed that it might work. The blackbirds hovered but couldn't get a comfortable grip and left...but they are tenacious and just kept trying until they could uncomfortably hold on. It has slowed them down but they are still always around chasing the smaller birds away.I have tried giving them an easier option in the yard but they just take over everything. Then I tried not having any food out for a few days and introduced this feeder at a new spot under the covered porch. Little birds are faster and therefore braver so I hoped this might work. Nope. Guess thistle is all that I can use in my area to discourage them.

Not the goldfinches' favorite
I have three sunflower chip feeders for the goldfinches. Two are Beck's "Chickadee" feeders and this is the third. For reasons known only to the birds--and they aren't telling--they use this one only if there is no space at the other two or if they're empty. I wish they liked this one best; it is easier to fill, and holds more seed. The chickadees, Carolina wrens, and tufties don't use this one at all, and will simply perch in the trees overhead and complain with great enthusiasm until I fill the Beck's feeders that they like, but in good news, the unwelcome house sparrows won't eat from this, either.

Sturdy little feeder
This feeder is specifically for nuthatches, finches, woodpeckers and titmice. I originally bought this feeder to prevent sparrows from wasting so much seed. They just scratch it out of other feeders, for their friends on the ground, while the other birds look on in anguish. Raccoons like it too I have discovered. They can knock it down multiple times and although the top of one (I have 3 now) is cracked, it is still useable. Good quality or I wouldn't have paid this much for a third because the other 2 I bought at a farm store for $8 each.

STILL A FINE PRODUCT
I have had one of these feeders for about 15 years. I decided to add another recently and I'm pleased to say that they are still the same quality product they've always been. Easy to use, easy to clean, and holds a decent supply of sunflower (or other) seeds. This is a feeder for clingers, so ground feeders won't be able to use it. But birds to the feeder seem to drop enough seeds to share with the others on the ground. To make it easier to hang, I added an old fashioned shower curtain hook to the small loop at the top of the feeder dome.

No Bullies allowed
Bought these for my goldfinch and small clingers and they love it, and I love seeing them outside my window. The larger birds cannot navigate this one and I am happy about that. Very pleased with this product.

Birds do not like this feeder
this is just not bird friendly. the small birds like chickadees, sparrows, goldfinches, nuthatches etc have fought with this thing and they can not figure out how to sit "hang" on it. After a spin or two they just leave without a seed. I do not like it and have taken it down after a month.

The bird feeder is very pretty and cheerful compared to all my other feeders
The bird feeder is very pretty and cheerful compared to all my other feeders. I paired it with a yellow ribbon and it looks great on my shepherd's hook. It took a day or two for the chickadees, titmouse and gold finch to take to it. They do seem to use the other hopper and finch feeders more at present, but I am confident that with some of their favorite fruit and nut mixes it will get more future use. It is constructed well and hopefully will look good for a while through the seasons. I am satisfied.
