The Dead Eye and the Deep Blue Sea: A Graphic Memoir of Modern Slavery [Prum, Vannak Anan, Pederick, Ben, Pederick, Jocelyn] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. The Dead Eye and the Deep Blue Sea: A Graphic Memoir of Modern Slavery Review: Thank you for the fast delivery! - Item received as described and arrived very quickly. Thank you! Review: Disturbing yet an absolute must read! - The slavery part of this graphic novel is very disturbing. In so many parts of the world slavery exists in many forms. When it strikes the poorest, it can be horrific. I cant imagine how someone can be a slave in a small fishing boat for 4 years against his will and then when he escapes he is sold to a crook and jailed later. Very sad. Even in modern jobs you can be a slave. However you can get out if you want. The author could not when he wanted to. A wonderfull representation in a novel with plenty of drawings which is art by itself. Must read!

What a harrowing tale.
This mesmerizing but harrowing tale gives me perspective about how the human spirit can be so resilient. Life is so perplexing and scary, yet we survive with the love and help from others.

An incredible graphic novel
A victim of human trafficking, who was only trying to feed his family tells his story through powerful drawings. An amazing talent. A powerfully sad story of what humans do to humans. 😢

After reading this graphic novel, I felt compelled to leave a review as this is truly a story which needs telling. It's a true and horrific story of modern-day slavery, which takes you into the life of a man with a simple and basic desire - to find work to support his family. He becomes enslaved and lives through an incredible but terrible ordeal. The story is told through his own incredible artwork. Please read it.

Highly recommend this book. This story, the illustrations - it’s riveting from the first page to the last.
