The Levine Atlantic Gambler is a 5 BU 1x1 weave Shantung Panama Straw Gambler with 3-inch deep curl brim. It is a highly fashionable style, such as the hats popularized by Gamblers and Card Sharps everywhere. Several popular blues and rock 'n' roll musicians have popularized the gambler hat style as well, including Frontman Stevie Ray Vaughan, ZZ Top and other blues musicians. Levine Shantung Panama Hats are DuPont Teflon treated for exceptional durability and resistance to water, oil and stains. Whereas other, non treated hats will eventually crack or decay due to handling and the oils on your fingertips, our shantung straw dress hats will last extra years due to their DuPont Teflon coating and will not crack, even if you regularly handle your handle your hat by the crown. The Levine Atlantic Gambler is trimmed with a basic gentleman's black grosgrain bow band. The band is sewn close to the hat, and is approximately 1-inch in width for a classic look. This width is ideal in case you want to purchase other hook on hat bands to match other colors in your outfit. The band is sewn on for a finished look and so that it will not fall off, but these other hat bands can be hooked on over your existing hat band if you choose. The Levine Atlantic Gambler features a comfort cotton sweat band on the interior, which wicks away sweat and keeps you cool and dry. After a few wears, this band is self-conforming, meaning that it will begin to form to the shape of your head. The hat is unlined for maximum breathability and comfort; it is ideal for Spring and Summer wear.

Ordered under Linda, but I am a guy. I was looking for something different than a baseball cap. I like this because it is not as tall as some of the other straw hats. The hat is 3 7/8" from the bottom of the ribbon to the top of the hat. At 6" 2", I didn't want more height. I also wanted the ability to curl the side brims a little, and I thought this style allowed that better than some others. The brim is about 3 inches wide. I think the hat is well made, and I liked the fact that it has a water-resistant coating. The hat allows a reasonable amount of air flow for me. I sweat a little while on the beach -- but I wanted a hat that didn't have noticeable holes in it.I took the advice of a reviewer of another hat and bought a size larger than my actual head size. Then, you can shrink it to the exact size of your head by holding it over a pan with steaming water. Try the hat on every minute or two until it is just right for you. Let it cool while you test it before putting it back over the pan. I left my hat a little loose so I don't get the "hat hair" look. You can also hold it over the pan to shape the brim if you want (I put a slight curl on both sides.)

Made in the USA, perfect fit, very well made.
First and foremost, kudos to the Levine Hat Company for making this hat in the USA.I purchased this hat to wear at a Halloween costume party. After shopping extensively for a Gambler top straw hat, I found this to be one of only two with a size option that would accommodate my head size. When I can find one, I need a size 7 7/8". The largest I could order this Atlantic Gambler Panama in was 7 3/4". Knowing a straw hat had some flex, I took a chance. Good move! The hat fit perfectly. Furthermore, the quality of the hat is outstanding. It came well packaged and in a very nice hatbox. Given I would have spent nearly double for a Stetson, which I could only have gotten in a 7 5/8", I consider myself fortunate for rolling the dice with this Levine Company offering.For what it's worth, the hat looks so good, I'll wear it spring and summer to keep a cool head and the sun out of my eyes.I'm not sure yet whether or not I'll try to steam the curved rim out of it like the other reviewer. It's not severe and had I not read that review, I'm not even sure I'd have considered doing so.

Excellent quality and fit
This is a great hat. Were it not for a delay of one month in delivery, it would have all the stars.The fit was perfect, it was well formed and it came with a reducer in case it's a tad too large. It also comes in its own, correctly sized hat box for safekeeping.

You've got to know when to hold 'em!
This hat is so cool, it will give you the confidence to know when to hold and when to fold! But seriously, great looking hat. Fits to size. I am between 7 and 7/8 and 8, so the XXL is a bit snug, but anything else would not work. Levin makes a fine hat!

Good hat
It's the right size. It's a bit round, but it will conform to my head, I'm sure. It's light and airy, but still feels like it will last some time so long as I take care of it. The sweatband is comfortable and placed well. When the time comes, I will likely purchase another.
