This is a great shave soap. The aroma is fantastic and the lather is excellent. This is how I prepare it. A half a dime size portion into your palm or bowl. Wet the brush and whip it vigorously. The lather should be prepped in about 10 seconds. The beauty of this lather is that if you shave twice (once with the grain and once against for the closest shave) you can lather your face twice as the product doesn’t evaporate or dissolve quickly on the brush. I love this product. Again, it smells and works great!

I’m on a mission to try out all of the best available ‘Lime’ soaps. The HeV Lime is among the best I’ve tried so far, nice lime forward scent that is present through the shave. I don’t expect a soap scent to linger much if at all, the soap scent is just there for your own olfactory satisfaction during the shave. So I would love for it to be even louder, but I think most shavers would find it sufficiently strong. The soap base is quick to lather and thick/slick once applied. A fantastic choice if you are looking for a lime forward soap that performs.

I went out on a limb, I really was leaning towards a cedar or vanilla and could have liked those more. This lathers very quickly and gets at least 2 passes. Out of the box the smell is way to strong, and I get maybe a hint of Cognac though it seems more vanilla, but the cigar I'm not getting. That said when the shave is done and has aired for a half hour it smells very nice and masculine. The girlfriend agrees, very/too strong at first, but after a bit it smells very nice. I will definitely keep experimenting with other scents, while a sandalwood I buy regularly. I'm glad to add it to the collection and have no regrets.

Just wow this soap is fantastic smells exactly like a cigar with maybe some vanilla in there it’s amazing it lathers super good don’t need a lot put it in a bowl mix away it’s so good perfect for the upcoming cold months spicy and refreshing can’t wait to try there other soaps soon!

It is a smooth blend of the richness of tobacco (not the burned kind) with a very light addition of the essence of cognac. Another reviewer pointed out that it doesn't have a dominant cognac aroma and they are very correct. Cognac can be overpowering as so many rum based products have proven and you don't want this the first thing in the morning when you are just preparing for the day. But it is there and the smooth addition to the tobacco makes this one incredible shaving experience. The lubrication provided by H et V is remarkable. I was using another hand-made product previously and the very noticeable difference is how easily my razor glides over my face and how protective the lather performed in the delicate areas. It is amazing and reduces the need for TP (if you know what I mean). While you can find other shaving soaps at slightly lower prices, you will definitely not be disappointed in your purchase of Henri et Victoria's Cognac and Cuban Cigars. A very masculine scent as well as a rich and protective lather that will make your morning shave one of the highlights of your day.

I got the expensive one without the tallow. It is the best shaving experience with the proper bowl. World class, the lingering slight smell that makes me happy.

I like to get fancy with my morning shave routine. I'll be honest, I do not enjoy shaving, so if I am forced to show up clean shaven everyday, I figured I might as well make the most out of it. This shaving soap lathers up well with a brush and smells great.

This is the best-smelling shaving soap ever. Wife likes it, people around me like it; it's great. Unfortunately, it's not a good soap for shaving. It dries out really fast on the face and actually burns and irritates me while shaving. I've been wet shaving for 20 years and have used dozens of brands of this type of shaving soap. This is the worst. Again, smells great, but gives an awful shave. I even tried blending this soap with another brand to get the scent AND a good shave, but nope. Still sucked.

Though I have used a double edged razor blade for years, I have always used canned shaving creams. I thought “(so I could up my order to get free shipping) to give the shaving soap a try. Once I figured out the lather this product is simple and easy to use. I have never been one to baby my face by any means, but it happened one evening recently when in a hurry I used some of the canned stuff on my face. I could not believe the difference in the feel compared to this product!! My face felt dry and irritated which I had never noticed prior to switching even though it was for sensitive skin I disposed of that can that day. My skin has never felt better and all I have done is switch to this shaving soap. Well done!

Has a tinge of chemical smell to it. Unlike other soaps. My DE does NOT glide as smooth as other soaps. Really disappointed.

Straight into the bin. Does not smell natural at all. The smell of chemicals to mimic the smell of sweet cognac and cigar tobacco. The lather was bad my DE can't glide as smooth just like the unscented soap. Disappointed with my 3 items purchased.

Smells great, lathers well, and provides good coverage on hairs, and lubrication to keep your skin happy. Great stuff. I have the whole line in lime scent, as I can't get enough of that smell.. I wish the scent lasted longer!

I bought this as my first DE shaving soap/cream and was throughly impressed. I have very sensitive skin and knew that scented soaps would irritate me. Some research led me to this soap. It has worked like a charm and I have yet (only a couple of shaves in) to experience any irritation. I will probably buy again (I hope they restock this soap on Amazon!).
