the pictures display a 2 piece jaw removeable top via 2 screws. 1 question was answered as solid jaws. Can anyone clear this up?

The chuck has 3 removable hard jaws. This means that the set of 3 jaws can be removed and flipped 180 degrees for outside clamping. You can also buy "Soft Jaws" for this chuck as well. They bolt on, in place of the 3 hard jaws, if you have need for soft jaws. The 3 screws shown, are for installation of an adapter plate, which is not included with this chuck. Grizzly sells adapter plates our you can make one, if you have those skills. The adapter is needed to mount to your lathe spindle. It does not come with one, since different lathes have different spindle specs, such as dia and threads.

what size spindle threads does this have?

Good value for a 6" 3-Jaw chuck

Quality seems well made. Haven't use it yet but did machine my own adapter plate. Remember you have to either buy a plate or make your own. I bought mine to upgrade my Metal lathe from a 4" chuck to 6". I made a plate that adapts the spindle adapter from my 4" chuck to the 6" chuck. That way, I didn't have to worry about the threaded spindle hub. I'm not sure why it is advertised as a wood turning chuck. I guess it could be used on a wood lathe but this is a chuck for a metal lathe. I am a Journeyman Machinist so I know what I'm looking at. Some adapter plates are available on grizzl, I found

ease of mounting on my rotary table. I recommend disassemble and cleaning and lubricate before use as my experience with most machinery from China is not cleaned of machining grit
