Atwood 84132 Silver Zinc Plated Surge Brake Actuator

I am very impressed with the quality of this coupler. I was sick of fighting my old coupler.. getting it on and off was a pain. This coupler works very smoothly, easy on, easy off!

Purchased as a replacement for the 26 y.o. Atwood actuator on my tandem axle boat trailer. The removal and installation of the (old & new) actuators was a breeze. The bleeding of the brake lines was kind of hassle...but only because I had to do it with my boat still on the trailer. (There isn't a lot of room to access any of the four bleeder valves.)

While this was a remove and replace old surge unit with a new one, it ended up being quite an ordeal. The Unit arrived with a broken spring that controls the ball catch that is located behind the ball underside. The master cycl. leaked under the top, a crimped gasket. I would say that the Atwood people had a bad day or a novice working the assembly that day. I called Atwood and they gave me an email address , they never responded except to say on the phone that the units were to be tested before they sent them out. Amazon was fantastic, sent out a replacement ASAP, I returned the defective unit with the broken spring attached with a note. Amazon credited my account for the old unit, charged for the new. Unit on the trailer, bled the brakes a second time, all is well. A very effective way to brake lightweight trailers.

If your surge brake trailer is 20 years old, there's a real good chance you need one of these. If the piston in your old Master cylinder freezes up like mine did, it will fry your brakes and leave you stranded. Great Product at a great price.

Ordered, delivered and installed nicely. Fit just as the old one. I tried to fix the old one and did it but should have just went with the new one from the start. Difficult to fix and time consuming. Just wish it didn't rust after a while.

Great item! Simple bolt on install although one hole was a bit off i was able to hammer bolt tgrough. No issues and works perfect!!

Works great and was easy to replace on old boat trailer hitch!

Fit great as a replacement for a Fulton that died a miserable death. Bolted on using existing holes and bled easily using a hitch ball mount and a ball not attached to the truck. Only complaint is the breakaway cable is pretty short.

Quick shipping as promised. A direct fit replacement unit. It wasn't black, as described, it was silver, but the color didn't matter.
