Magnets - How do they work???
THE CAR: Black Lightning AKA Toyota Camry THE PHONE: Samsung Galaxy S3 (yeah I know its old, but i'm getting a discount from Verizon for not upgrading and I can still play Candy Crush like a champ). Pretty bulky with the case, but i likes it. Makes it feel durable. I'd take a picture, but ... phoneception? THE PHONE CASE: Some kind of two-layered thing with a little flippy thing on the back so i can stand it up at an angle. The case itself is as thick as the phone. KITCHEN TEST: I put the metal piece inside both layers of the case and it held to the magnet but it still slid a bit when i shook it , so I moved the metal piece to in between the layers of the case (these metal pieces are SUPER thin) and it held great to the magnet. And I shook it a lot. STREET TEST: **Disclaimer: Female Asian Driver.** This was the real test. There's this place in the parking lot at work where there are 3 speed bumps right in a row. Sometimes I slow down for them. Sometimes I don't. I cranked up Katy Perry's "Dark Horse" (which happens to be the same song that blew the speakers out in my last car) and hit them all in quick succession. Phone didn't budge. COOLNESS TEST: I gave my Scientologist friend a ride somewhere and she was like "How is that staying on there?" She didn't think it was Xenu or magic or anything, but she was definitely intrigued. TL;DR: Californian thinks I have cool stuff. VERDICT: This. Thing. Is. Amazing. It works and it looks cool. I can reach it easily from the drivers seat to change songs or answer the phone (not all of us have built-in Bluetooth you FatCats). The best part i think is how unencumbered it is. I don't have to adjust 14 different things to accommodate a charging cable or audio plug. I've owned a lot of car mounts in my day. I've broken a lot of car mounts in my day. I even had one of those Grip & Go (from the TV commercials). One of the mounts I had actually had a piece break off and fall down into my steering column. I'M NOT SAYING IT'S RELATED, but I had to sell that car soon afterward. I actually had about 4 other car mounts in my cart before I decided to purchase this one. #NORAGRETS

Highly Recommend
I bought this WizGear product hoping to get a relatively cheap car mount for my IPhone 6S. The goal was to be able to have my phone at eye level to view maps, phone calls, etc, while not compromising a hand to hold my phone. I was hoping to get a reliable product that was easy to use, easy to assemble, and that wouldn't require extensive additions to my IPhone. The WizGear Universal Air Vent Magnetic Car Mount has everything I was hoping to get in a phone stand. The magnet is easy to adhere to the backside of the phone and I had no issues attaching the magnet, even though I have a semi-thick phone case. I placed the magnet in-between the phone backing and the phone case, though I imagine you could also place the magnet on the back of the phone case. The magnet is thin enough that you don't notice it is even there after applying. As for the strength of pull between the magnet and the car mount, I have had no issues with my phone sliding or falling off during driving and it has been easy to attach and pull away from the mounted stand. As far as the mount goes, the device has prongs that allow for you to easily attach the black stand to anything that the prongs can fit around (ideally to the air vent). The prongs are sturdy enough that they don't move over bumps and the general jostling of a car, but also flexible enough to allow easy slide on and slide off from the vent. Swiping, touching, and pressing on my phone don’t move the phone off the stand either. The only potential negative I could see to this product is not being able to hold your phone wherever you want on your dash, but obviously the description says "Air Vent Mount" so there shouldn't be any ambiguity in what you think you are buying. Overall I have been very pleased, and if you are someone who is looking for a phone stand that clips on an air vent, this product is simple, affordable, and effective in accomplishing that task. I would highly recommend this WizGear product. Great investment!

Well made, easy to install, inexpensive. Does the job I wanted it to do.
I wasn't sure I'd like this product because I was worried about blocking the air vent. There is one part that attaches to the A/C vent and then your phone sticks to it. So I was worried that the A/C would be blocked. Its not the problem I thought it would be. There is a bit less air, but not that noticeable. I used to have my phone sitting in a cup holder which was bad because it meant I had to look down to see it, and also things could spill or fall onto it. Now it is closer to eye level and much easier and safer. This device comes with three magnetic pieces to choose from which you install on/in your phone and then those magnets are what stick to the base that is in the A/C vent. You can either put a magnetic plate inside your phone case, or attach a magnetic plate onto the back of your phone. I have metal case and when I put the plate inside the case, it wasn't strong enough to stick. The back of my case slides open to carry a credit card, so I put the plate in there, and it sticks fine. If you have a thick case without this credit card slot, you may have to attach the magnetic plate to the outside of your phone. I might not like the product as much if that is how I had to use it because its not attractive to have that plate on your phone. I knew this might be a problem but it is inexpensive and worth a try and for me, it worked out great. Another nice feature is that you can take it all with you if you change vehicles. The piece in the A/C vent is rubber and pulls out easily so changing vehicles is pretty simple. One issue I have found is that once your phone is attached to the base, it cannot move up or down or side to side. So you can't turn it toward you. This isn't a problem for me because it is easy to see but I suppose it depends on how your dash is configured. Overall, a good product, good price and well made.

Works great, good value: Simple. strong, portable...most of the time
This works well on a (2016) Audi's vents to display a mid-sized LG phone when inside its plastic cover. One nice attribute is that it is very portable...you can just put it in a pocket to move from car to car easily. It has enough grip so that the smallest of the 3 provided metal plates (the circular one about the same size as the magnetic mount). holds my LG mid-size phone through the plastic cover. Since I often remove and replace the cover, I secured this plate inside the cover with a spot of glue so it doesn't require repositioning when removing/replacing the phone cover). Some have commented that the mount pulls from the vent when removing the phone. This is true if you just pull it off , but I find that simply sliding the phone off rather than lifting/pulling it leaves the mount in place. Note that this mount is fixed so it just allows rotatiion on the mount surface, It does not tilt to change the angle, so you must choose a vent that faces you pretty directly. In most cars this should be OK but check it out. Because of heating and cooling, placement of the phone on the vents isn't ideal but so far it works well enough considering the convenience of easily seeing/touching the screen. Adjusting the airflow controls should handle most 'problems'...I seldom rely on the mid-dash vents anyway, preferring the windshield and floor outlets. YMMV since people, cars and phones vary on these factors...but for me I'm pleased. I may buy a couple more for other cars and friends. Considering the price, portability, simplicity, I can't think of a better mount for us. Update after a few weeks: It still works great in the car I purchased it for, a newer Audi A/S4... so well that I even bought another one, which when installed in other cars, worked "OK" (was usable mostly) but not quite as well...so far tried in late model Subaru Legacy, older Audi, Saab. It's somewhat sensitive to combination of dashboard vent/grill work size, angle/direction placed, placement of the metal tab in the phone and phone weight/angle it sits at. If bad may not fit at all or will allow phone to fall after bounces etc. I know this is tough to follow, so my advice is look at the car grill first...or if possible, try a friend's. If unsure and have multiple cars, just buy one and try in all target cars/phones as possible. I still recommend it but want readers to understand that (as with many things...) sometimes it works better than others.

Essential and amazing
I decided to write this review because I came back to buy a third one and figured if I keep buying a product, I should give it a good review. I drive a TON for work, and half the year I'm traveling the country. What that means is im often driving in places I'm completely unfamiliar with, so I needed a removable car mount I could bring with me everywhere, and I needed it to work well. I bought my first one and loved it. Easy to put it and remove, fits a variety of vent styles (not all, but I'm always in different rental cars and have only found one in which it didn't work that well), and most importantly, it works. My phone just sticks to it and I go, not having to worry about my phone falling. After about 8 months of use, I forgot it in a rental car. Pretty peeved with myself, but what are you gonna do. I bought a different vent mount because I saw one at Best Buy and figured I'd just get it while I was there. That one was so inferior that I lasted about 2 days before just returning it and buying this product again. I've been using it a couple months now and decided to buy another so I could keep one in my car and keep one in my luggage. So here I am, three purchases and over a year in, and I still love this thing and recommend it regularly. A tip: if your phone isn't sticking well, check the magnet position in your phone case. The magnet isn't terribly large, so if it's at the bottom of your case and you're trying to stick the top of the phone to the mount, it's going to be wobbly. But you can position the magnet in different areas within your case and I've found that it stays in that position pretty well. I got in a car wreck, front end collision, and my phone stayed on this thing.

Works okay, pros and cons
I ordered this for my car because I recently started driving for Uber and needed a dashmount to make my life easier. I have to say that I like it, but I definitely don't love it. HOW IT WORKS: You clip the mount onto your air vent, and slide a small piece of metal (that comes with it) into the back of your phone case. The magnet in the mount holds your phone on by magnetizing to the the metal in the case. PROS: It's great for convenience. To put your phone on the mount, you literally just slap it on. When it works, it only takes half a second. Same process to remove it, you just snatch it off the mount, and that's great. It's so incredibly easy to use, and that's a huge plus. It also doesn't leave any gross glue or residue on your car, because you just clip it into the vent, so installation was also a breeze. It's not very big, so it's pretty nondescript, and not super obvious. CONS: The magnet isn't as strong as I would like. My phone case is on the thicker side (I drop my phone a lot, and want it to be protected) and so the magnet doesn't always stick to the mount as well as it could. It seems like it's at the minimum strength it needs to be to keep the phone on there, and sometimes the phone just falls off, especially if I'm going over a bump or something like that. It can be really annoying. And also, on the note of the magnet not being that strong, I have an iphone 6. If you have a 6+ or a galaxy or anything larger, I would buy something else because I don't think that the magnet could support your phone. It just isn't strong enough. The mount also has fallen out a couple of times, but that doesn't seem to be that big of a problem. One of the issues though is that there's no real way to position it that doesn't block the air vent, and that is actually pretty annoying sometimes. I also feel like it can't be GREAT for my phone to be exposed to temperature like that, so I've just turned that vent off, but that is a drawback to having a clip in vent mount instead of a traditional one. The mount also came with a bunch of pieces of metal for the phone, which I thought was really great because it seems like something that could be easy to lose. Some were smaller in case you have smaller devices you want to use, and some had adhesive in case you don't use a case on your phone. I didn't want residue from the adhesive on my phone, so I am using on of the plain ones, but it does slide around within the case and effects how well the phone stays on the mount, so that can be pretty annoying. It was a little hard to position the metal strip where I needed it to be within the case.

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious
This thing is super awesome. At first I was concerned about the magnets because I have an Otterbox Commuter Wallet case for my iPhone 6s, and I didn't want the magnets to damage either the credit cards or, God forbid, the phone. I did a fair amount of research and found that although this magnet is pretty strong, it generally takes a super-strong electromagnet to damage either of them. So, I went ahead and ordered it, and I'm so glad I did! The base fits snugly onto the vent, and although it eliminates the ability to change the angle of the vent, that isn't a huge deal for me. Once it's in place, I can almost toss my phone up to it (no, I don't actually do that). The magnets hold it strongly in MULTIPLE positions, it doesn't have to be centered on the plate for maximum hold. The rubber coating on the base assists with this, preventing the device from sliding around and breaking magnetic contact when you hit bumps in the road. My phone covers about half of my vent when it's installed, which is fine, because the other half is pointed right at me :) and it only blocks half of one vent. (I have a 2013 Dodge Caravan so I'm sure different types of vents will produce different results) Even with my AUX and charge cables plugged in it doesn't affect the strength of the magnet at all. I can have it in normal or landscape orientations (useful when using a GPS app) and coupled with Siri it makes it incredibly easy to use the device handsfree in the car. The magnet is strong enough that it prevents the device from spinning on the base (gravity pulling the heavier side down). Another neat feature, and I'm sure this has been noted before, is that because the phone is attached to the vent it keeps it cool while charging on hot days, or when using GPS (the screen produces a fair amount of heat when it is on and at full brightness for an extended amount of time). I haven't used it in the winter when the heater is on, but I usually turn the heater to the defrost anyway so it isn't blasting warm air directly into my face. Another important note is that this magnet base may work with many phones without the included metal plate - My wife just bought a Samsung Galaxy S8 and has a clear PC case on it, and without the metal plate the phone sticks to the base with no issues. Again, the magnet isn't strong enough to affect the components in the phone aside from perhaps the digital compass in a smartphone, but if it is affected strongly most smartphones have an alert that lets you know. My iPhone 6s has no issues with the compass while using this base and my wife's Galaxy S8 also has no loss of functionality in the digital compass (and the magnet is attracting directly to something inside her device!) Five stars and two thumbs way up for this simple, cheap device that has revolutionized the way I personally use my phone in the car.

Universal Air Vent Magnetic
After switching out my dashboard suction mount for this universal air-vent magnetic phone holder a few weeks ago, I haven't looked back since. I haven't even considered switching back. The rapid, swift-snap technology of the device proved to be really miraculous from the minute I clipped it onto the vent blade. It transformed what was previously a two-handed juggling performance into a single, smooth move. Within a fraction of a minute, the mount was successfully installed. Choosing a robust vent fin in my vehicle, sliding the clamp over it, and giving it a little squeeze until it was securely fastened in place was all that was required of me. All I had to do was make a gratifying click, which gave me the assurance that the base would remain securely secured, even when I turned the air conditioner up to its highest setting. There was no need to worry about screws or cumbersome brackets. The moment I tried out the swift-snap function for the first time, I was blown away by the way the phone managed to almost spring into place. The powerful magnetic panel immediately caught my smartphone as I brought it within an inch of the mount while holding it with one hand. I heard a comforting snap as the gadget was immediately seized. With its quick grasp, I no longer had to deal with the wobbles and readjustments that I experienced while using traditional cradles. My phone was able to lock into position with a single fluid motion, regardless of whether I was getting started with navigation or transitioning to a hands-free conversation. Since the installation, I have driven on roads with cobblestones, gravel driveways, and highways with potholes without worrying that my phone would fall out of my pocket. I have not experienced any shifting or rattling, even when I accelerate rapidly or stop suddenly, since the strong magnet retains the device securely against the mount face. I have not had any problem with this. Because of this unwavering security, I am able to concentrate my focus on the road rather than subconsciously checking to see whether my phone is still connected. The fact that this holder maintains a clean sightline through my windshield is one of the most significant advantages it offers. By putting the phone directly on the vent, I am able to keep it within my peripheral vision without obstructing any essential sightlines, in contrast to devices that are mounted on the dashboard or windshield, which obscure my view. In addition, sending cold air toward the device helps keep it from overheating during lengthy summer journeys. This, as I've seen, helps preserve smooth GPS performance and prevents my phone from throttling due to heat buildup.

Great!
This is a very useful, no-fuss item. So easy to install - I slot it into an air grill at the side of my steering wheel and there it stays. To use, tap the phone on to it and the magnet grabs it firmly. It has never fallen off or moved. To remove phone is also easy - it slides off. Having the phone in the spot I want it makes glancing at 'google maps' very easy.
