Has a Flicker Problem
It was easy to setup and plug in. QLight Controller Plus immediately recognized it, but there is an intermittent and random flicker when using a static look. Probably not the best device when a client is paying you for lighting.

Works well as advertised
Works well as advertisedIdiots beware you need to be able to read and understand com ports and other ways to map this device to your software. once you have appropriate software this little device is great. But if you’re an idiot step up pay the extra bucks for someone else’s work and get one that has proprietary software that will do all the configuration for you.

"Enttec Open" class device for limited use
This is one example of a class of interfaces under the "open" banner. That is, it does not have an internal processor for DMX timing of packets. Your computer and software must be capable of providing the timing. This is opposed to, say, the DMX King interfaces or other Enttec models. You will pay more for those (up from $70), but they are designed for professional use. Most of your freeware software should recognize this device as "Enttec Open".In testing with our Cue Player software, the device works fine and based on initial timings, I would expect it to work up to 126 channels on a recent vintage (>2017) Windows 10 PC. No experience with Macs. You do have to fault the total lack of any documentation, however.

Who knew DMX could be so cheap? I didn’t.
Not for the faint of heart: there are no instructions and no drivers included but if you google “DIY USB DMX Interface” you will find enough information to get the dongle running. I had to install D2XX drivers from the ftdichip website but the dongle is working on a windows 7 and a windows 10 machine. Freestyler X2 works well with this interface. QLC+ 5alpha works well but keeps crashing. QLC+ 4 doesn’t crash as much but the lights kept flicking; this may be a frame rate issue.

5 stars for price and that it works.
I used with Freestyler and it worked fine if I used the setup option for the JMS USB2DMX in Freestyler setup. After restarting FS it worked fine and that is a good thing. It took a while for me to figure out which option to choose. But it worked fine after that. The blue light is bright and annoying, I will agree, but a $.01 piece of black electrical tape around it works wonders.

Works fine with Pyserial on Linux!
I bought this for use with some python scripts, and it seems to work very reliably. No drivers needed or anything like that.

The flashing light is super annoying. Why
It works with some DMX software and not with others. I wasn't able to get it to work with software that supports Entec-Pro (like it said in the description). I was able to get it to work with DMXKing. The flashing light is super annoying. Why? Why do I need to be blinded just to see that the thing is actually working? I ended up covering it with electrical tape but some of the flashing still gets through the edge.
