It works. True, I've only tested it in my living room, but if it works here it should work outside on a dew-encrusted night. The usual attachment--connecting the supplied cable through a USB-to-RS-232 adapter--seems kludgy and archaic, and seems like a potential source of failure when lying in the grass waiting to be stepped on or soaked with dew. Or coffee. This new cable seems as well-made as any, is longer than I can imagine ever needing, and works. Plus, now I have a backup. . .always a good thing when miles from home in a dark-sky site. It took a month to get here from China--hey, Letotech, can't you do any better than that??--but it was worth the wait. I hope that if a few more of us buy it, maybe they'll put a little more money into the shipping. Still, I'm grateful Letotech has made it for us, and recommend it if you have an iOptron EQ mount that needs it.

Used with Windows 10 to update LX200 GPS from 1.5c to current with StarPatch software after installing the current driver for the cable's chipset at the FTDI website. to my computer. I first tried the Autostar Updater 6.1 from Mead, it would only view the handset data not upload. The scope successfully auto-aligned. Good luck!

I thought I might have bought the wrong product as I have the ZEQ25 and SmartEQPro mounts. In addition, I'd never seen a telescope control cable for these mounts that had a USB plug at one end and a DB9 at the other. Usually, they end in a serial plug that requires a serial-to-USB converter containing chips that handle the conversion. As this cable did not have this configuration, I thought that it might work only with the IEQ30 Pro mount. When it arrived, I decided to give it a try and it worked with both mounts perfectly, and with my ASCOM drivers and planetarium software! No need for a separate Serial to USB converter. I didn't even have to load any extra drivers for it!Works brilliantly well!

While the windows 10 and windows 2007 laptops recognized this cable (windows 10 automatically and windows 2007 after driver updates), the Meade LX200 GPS telescope autostar 6.1 software still did not recognize the LX200. I will have to end up buying the $49 rs232 cable which I was trying to avoid to update my autostar firmware. This USB cable may work for scope control with other software but not for firmware updates using the Autostar 6.1 suite.

I bought two cables, one for my iOptron ZEQ25GT mount and one for my Meade LX200 classic mount. Both worked perfectly straight out of the package and have never caused any problems. I use these cables to control these mounts from Windows and Linux. No custom/dedicated drivers needed. I haven't found any other straight USB-RS232 RJ9/12 cables that work with these mounts... you usually have to buy the official RS232 cables from Meade or iOptron and separately buy a USB-RS232 DB9 adapter, all in all costing more than twice as much as these singular straight cables, and it looks messy. People asked me about these cables at a star party and I referred them here. Highly recommended!

If you have an LX-90 do not waste your money on the #505 cable connector and serial-USB adapter!!! I already tried it and it was a major bust. Buy this SINGLE calbe and it'll get the job done! I even received it super quick! Only one week from order to delivery. I had some problems on the settings with PHD, Stellarium, and the Auto suite, but I re-started my Windows 10 laptop and then SNAP, it worked! Guiding my telescope with Stellarium is a breeze!

I read this as a do it yourself project where you have to assemble the connector. Mine came fully assembled, which was a nice surprise. I’m using it to connect a Meade LX65 to a ZWO ASIair Pro astrophotography computer (Raspberry Pi based). So it connects from the Pi to the RS232 jack on the AutoStar handbox. SkySafari also connects. So when the cable is operating, the computer, iPad (SkySafari) and ASIair are all working at the same time. Very nice.

Once i downloaded and installed the drivers for windows 10, I restarted my computer and plugged this serial adapter into the available USB port on my laptop. I loaded the Ioptron "Commander" program and it immediately recognized the mount and I had complete control. My next step is to register it with 'Stellarium' and life will be sublime.
