Perfect replacement control valve for a old gravity furnance when pilot does not want to stay lit
This was the Perfect replacement control valve for a old gravity furnance. The old control valve wouldn't keep the pilot light on. But after troubleshooting the problem, I decided to replace the control valve. In the process of the replacing the control valve, I also clean and adjust the other parts that connected to the pilot light assembly. It was not hard to replace. It work perfectly now.

Great product
Worked great the first time it was fired up in my 1980's gas fireplace. As with most gas valves, the instructions are intense and must be followed exactly- so be ready for a tough read through before you even think of installing this unit yourself. Otherwise, it worked first time and a number of times over the past month. Highly recommended. Oh, and my unit it is the exact same excellent quality as the original unit we replaced. There was no sign of poor construction as mentioned by a couple other buyers.

Replaced an FMI GL850 valve
After countless hours of research, I finally determined this valve replaces the original that came in an FMI GL850 fireplace. Amazon had it cheaper than anywhere, and it worked totally flawlessly.

Very cost effective replacement
It was a bit of a challenge to figure out which valve was the correct replacement as the fireplace manufacturer went out of business several years ago. I made an educated guess and it worked. Since this is "replacement" valve for other applications, the unused ports are sealed off (by the installer) with provided pipe plugs. The plugs don't thread far enough into the body to be flush enough for the mounting brackets to fit properly. This is a very low clearance installation, so this almost did not work. However, with some creative use of flat washers and a shoehorn, we made it work. The valve itself works great at a reasonable price.

Replaced non-working valve in gas fireplace
This valve replaced an older one in a gas fireplace. However some changes were required to the connections. The old valve used two thermocouples, one for the pilot flame valve, and one for the main gas valve. This one eliminates the thermocouple for the pilot, and uses the one for the main gas valve to also maintain the pilot, via a jumper wire to the pilot flame valve. Also, the old valve used 1/8 inch gas tubing for the pilot flame whereas this valve uses 1/4 inch tubing . So a short piece of 1/4 inch tubing is needed along with a 1/8 to 1/4 adapter. The 1/8th tubing must be cut to connect the adapter. No changes were required for the main input and output gas lines. Also note this valve does not have a level control. One, available from Robertshaw, can be added.

Great product to repair non-functioning gas log set
Excellent replacement valve for my gas fireplace log set! The three output fitting options allowed me to install the valve in almost the exact location of the original non-Robertshaw valve. There was very little retrofit work required. The price was excellent as well - neatly $25 less than other options. I will definitely order another Robertshaw valve for future projects.

Perfect.
My old wall furnace made new again. I didn't want to buy a new one because I'm installing a heat pump and it's for back up in case of power failure. New thermocouple, gas valve and thermostat and it should be good for a long time. If you have a millivolt wall furnace this seems to be a drop in part for Cozy and Williams etc. Although gas valves rarely fail I think it's a good idea for older units. Before you buy a gas valve check it by jumping from the TH red to the TH terminal for the blocked flue sensor. The usualproblem with these units is the thermocouple. it should measure about 500 millivolts from the red thermostat wire to the white one.

Great Robertshaw gas valve. Fast shipping and a great price.
I used it to add a wall thermostat to an old wall furnace. It works great, however you must replace the old thermocouple with a new thermopile. It was fairly easy to install and it works great.
