Five-star training device. Not my first choice for "real use" though.
This is a cheap knockoff CAT-style tourniquet. The windlass is solid enough, where the windlass on a real CAT is extremely sturdy. I got this in blue for practice and in that role it's absolutely perfect. (You should avoid practicing with your "real" tourniquet if you can, as you don't want to put wear and tear on a lifesaving device. Better safe than sorry). The velcro length adjustment works just fine, and the cross-strap that you write the time on took a magic marker fine too.If there were an actual emergency and my choice was between this and improvising a tourniquet out of a bandana or something, I would absolutely use this device, no question. However, if you're getting together emergency supplies and you have the means, use these cheapies for practice and get a real-deal CAT or similar to keep in your kit.The shears are fine; the regular inexpensive EMT-type shears.

Affordable bundle medical scissors & tourniquet
Bought this to include in my first aid kit for my emergency earthquake kit. Haven't used it or tested it out yet, but looks to be quality items to me.

DO NOT USE THIS IN A REAL WORLD EMERGENCY
This tourniquet is at best, a training level tq. The plastic stresses easily and even after one use in training, you can see the discoloration of the plastic where the strap is connected to the base by the windless. If you are looking for a demo to show people what a CAT style tourniquet is, then this is a cheap option. If you are looking for a tq to add to a kit or take with you, consider something more along the lines of the Recon Medical TQ which is cheaper than the NAR CAT and has a metal windless. The new version also has a pen in the end of the windless. They warned us overseas about the knockoff CAT and now I see why. At the time I was thinking "how bad can they be...it is a pretty basic concept and easily to replicate".Anyway, don't trust your life or the life of anyone else with this tq.

These were bought for my son to keep in his squad car and he was very happy with it!

great value and works as it's supposed to
I compared this tourniquet side by side to brand name CAT's and functionally there is no difference. Applied one to myself and it worked exactly as expected.
