The app could see some upgrades. Otherwise it does what it should.

I am SOOOOO happy I got these (and an extension set). I LOVE being able to have lights up all year round and just change the 'theme'. I used to put different lights up for each holiday - but what a pain. This is much easier, and I like having the option to change the 'effects' and add music.

It only works with older devices and older versions of Android. You need at least Android version 4.3. For example this app will work with a Samsung Galaxy S3 running Android 4.3, and it'll also work with a Samsung Galaxy S5 running Android 4.4. However a Samsung Galaxy S7 running Android 7 will not work with this app. Also if your phone is too old it won't work either. For example an old LG phone running Android 4.1 will not work with this app. Alternatively an old iPhone 5 running iOS 10 will work when downloading this from the App Store. Keep in mind the app was last updated in 2016. So it won't work with any OS released after that date.

I bought these when they first came out. Some of my family were even backers on kickstarter. After newer is versions for android they no longer support these. The developers don't have android phones newer then 2014 so they can't update. My lights are now useless. Only way to control is with my 4 year old cracked old phone.

I bought three strings of 24 C7 lights new. The quality of the lights looks pretty decent. The wires are heavy duty and everything past the 120 volt wall plug appears to be fully waterproof. Each string comes with a controller, and you only need one controller when joining multiple strings if you only want to run one pattern. I joined all three strings to make a single 72 light display; the connection for joining strings is easy to make. Of course, if you want separate patters for each string, just use one controller per string - however remember each controller needs to be plugged into 120 Volt power, so you may need extension cords for a big display win separate patterns. The lights look best for R, G and B primary colors, but I was able to also find settings for nice looking yellow and violet.The reason I rated the product three stars is the limitations of the mobile device app. The box says the lights work with Android and Apple iOS. However I ould not find the app on Google Play for my Samsung tablet, which is Android 5. Perhaps the app is only for an older or newer Android version. I did find the app on the Apple App Store and had no problems running the app on iOS 12.1.1. I ran into a problem where the app gets stuck in a loop wanting to update the firmware in the light controller. The update completes, but as soon as the light string reboots, the app wants to update the firmware again. Luckily, you can disable the firmware update in the app, then you’ll be able to control the lights. The app is pretty simple to use, but the layout could use improvement. The app is what differentiates this product from being just a string of lights, thus the app should be more polished - and should be supported for more Android versions.

I would give ZERO stars if I could. I originally purchased 5 strands to go along the roof of my house for Christmas... of those 5 strands I only have one of the original remaining. These strands lasted one Christmas season before they became so glitchy they have become unuseable. I’ve returned 4 strands, have gotten 4 replacements all to have the same recurring issues. Needless to say, they have found a new home in the garbage.

Seems like the App only works on older versions of Android. I kept an old phone just so I could change the lights. NOW, the while thing just stopped working. Plug it in and NOTHING.
