Matchbox Jurassic World Harbour Rescue Portable Playset

Our play set came without the opening platform.. I had a VERY upset grandson!!!!

(This is a review for Harbor Rescue, not Island Escape.)What makes this toy succeed is how wide-open and versatile it is. The Island Escape set is basically just a small racetrack - fun for cars, but not much else, and it doesn't match anything that happens in Fallen Kingdom. Harbor Rescue is a closer fit to the events of the movie and is packed with features that can be used by both vehicles AND dinosaurs. You've got a big crane, a holding pen, multiple ramps and docks, and of course the attacking T-Rex head. The crane can even be used to feed things to the Rex, though I admit that somewhat takes the "rescue" out of "Harbor Rescue."What I really like about this set is how it's compatible with so many other toys. If you have any of the other standard Jurassic World Matchbox cars, they'll work here. The Mini Action Dinos are compatible with the set as well. The Battle Damage multipack dinos? Those work here. The Dino Transporters? You can use those, too. Not all of the toys can use all the features (a lot of the dinosaurs don't fit well in the crane's claw and will fall out), but they can all tromp around on the main play area and look like they fit right in.One small nitpick is that one of the latches on my unit doesn't work correctly. It has to reach just a little bit too far to lock in place, and will inevitably pop open after a few seconds. The other locks still manage to keep the toy shut when it's in packed-away mode, but a defect out of the package is still not something I ever want to see. Also, the quality of the item is pretty good in terms of materials used (it's all nice solid plastic) but I could definitely see some of the parts like the crane and the latches breaking around kids who play rough, so it's probably better suited to children old enough to know to take care of their things.Supposedly at some point there will also be a boat playset based on the Arcadia, the dinosaur transport boat seen in the film. That would make an excellent companion toy to this set as well, and combined with the Dino Transporters you could actually play out a "rescue the dinosaurs" adventure from start to finish. All in all, this is currently the best (and only) option available for an official Jurassic World playset that gives the dinosaurs an environment to play in, since Island Escape has nowhere for the dinosaur figures to play, only the vehicles. I would have loved this thing to bits as a kid and I still think it's awesome today. Highly recommended.

My kid loves this item and he ca easily take it with him when he leaves the house! It’s not as durable as similar ones in the 1980’s but it’s great for the price! He’s a rough 9 year old so that should speak volumes! Enjoy!

My son is 8, and he loves dinosaurs... and he wasn't too impressed with this set. He liked the portability, and the pop-up T-Rex... but that was about it.I think for smaller kids, or perhaps kids who absolutely love Jurassic World, this would go over better. (My son loves dinosaurs in general, but not necessarily Jurassic World specifically).

I got it for the grandkids for when they come to my house which is several times a week. They love it! The 6 year old grandson saw it on YouTube and was super excited! The 2 year loves playing with it as well.

This was great. Got it for my grandson for his birthday. He loved it - it combined dinosaurs and matchbox cars (two of his favorite things.) It was sturdy enough for a 5 yo to play with. Won my approval.
