A great buy for the money.
Soundmagic E11C review The earphones come well packaged in a nice cut-foam insert, all feeling sensibly professional without being over the top. There are a couple of different sizes of spare ear tips, and a snazzy little carrying case. The red zip makes it look smarter than most of the half dozen of these I have lying around, and it feels like a little sturdier and more protective than some. Fit and finish of the things is very slick. The housing of plug, splitter, volume control and earbuds is all shades of brushed aluminium, with logos and L/R markers seemingly laser etched on. The strain relief at the joins is all a smart looking clear plastic, and the cable itself feels robust. Apparently silver plated copper, for if you believe in cables, it seems like it would cope with a little bit of abuse, and didn’t tangle too easily. The overall feel is of an earphone built like an absolute tank, that could easily stand up to the abuse of day to day use, and look smart and slick while doing it. Fit-wise, they... fit?... they don’t seem very sensitive to insertion depth or positioning, and with my reasonably small ears both the small and medium tips were comfortable, and I settled on the mediums as they stayed in the ears best. The housing is sensibly compact, and they settle pretty far into the ears, but I wouldn’t want to be wearing them to sleep with. Isolation is very reasonable; there is no sound leakage, and the vast majority of outside noise is cut out when playing music in a noisy environment. I have been driving these mainly from a Fiio BTR1 dongle, as well as my unwieldy-yet-great-sounding Audioquest jitterbug/dragonfly black combo. They were perfectly happy being driven from the Fiio, although the dynamic driver did seem to like the extra power the dragonfly could supply. For the sound, I would characterise these as pleasantly unsurprising. The frequency response is impressive, and tested on a signal generator were giving a strong sound out down to 35Hz. SoundMAGIC claim a frankly laughable 15Hz, which is frankly only sound if you are a blue whale, but for normal listening the bass extension is more than adequate. There is a good amount of bass, without it being overpowering and intrusive. The high frequencies are pretty forward in their presentation, making these a livelier rather than relaxing listen, and this is pretty sensible for earphones that are likely to be an on-the-go listen, as this means the sound is less loss against background noise. Midrange is solid and warm, without being over-lush and muddy, if it is a little less forward in presentation than the bass or highs. Overall, I am very happy with these earphones. They look and feel great, and the sound is unremarkable in the best way, as they just sit out of the way and let the music through. A great choice in this price range.

Amazing, but durability is an issue
These are very good earphones. Sound quality is amazing for the price, earbuds are comfortable, but a little rubbery. The only true letdown is durability, for whatever reason, these earphones have a habit of one side losing audio after around a year in my possession, with cautious use. So be careful how loud you set your volume at, as I assume it would die out quicker if it's a set problem. If that was sorted, these would be perfect.

Good price and decent performance - fit is important
I owned a pair of these a few years ago and eventually sold them because they were a bit underwhelming. I've since realised that fit is super important for ear buds. I've found some tips which fit my ears well and I just put those (Spinfit) tips on the earbuds - without trying the supplied tips although I may try them later. With the right tips these buds are good. They are light, they fit comfortably and sound good. I've tried them with movies, music and the venerable Alan Parsons Sound Check CD (very useful because it has single and multiple instrument tracks, recorded well with little processing). These handle all of that very well. The sound is nicely balanced with no low end booming or shrill top end. The microphone and and controls work well enough for me - certainly well enough for use with a Duolingo French course. The gun metal finish is nicer than the black I had previously and the ear buds look and feel more expensive than they are. As to noise isolation, they cut down on background noise a little bit but nothing like ANC can do. They are quite sensitive and on an iPad can go very loud, but not so much on my Android phone. On the iPad they sound loud at half volume but on the Android phone 3/4 volume is just about loud enough. Overall, I'm pleased with these earbuds this time around especially for the price. Now I can bin my 20 year old Shure earbuds because I've got a more competent replacement pair.

Disappointing audio
Very disappointed, can't understand the reviews about sound quality. Yes, the sound is very clear and precise with a wide range of frequencies present. However, it verges on being tinny much of the time with a limited bass response making the sound balance lacking and uncomfortable at times. I consistently have to turn the volume down when using these to avoid the mid to high frequencies hurting my ear. I've only ever bought cheap ear buds before so was expecting more at this price point but ended up feeling that one of the cheaper ones is easier to live with even though the frequency range isn't as good as these. The effect is even more pronounced with phone calls. Horrible tinny voice sound, definitely had to switch back to an older pair for calls. UPDATE 2 DAYS LATER: I've discovered that changing the tips makes a difference. I went from the default middle ones to the largest ones with the oval shape. Sounds better now; no dramatic increase in bass but it sounds slightly better balanced and less tinny. I was on the verge of returning them but kept them as I can just about live with them for occasional use and wasn't sure that I would find something better based on reviews alone.

Major Disappointment: Sound Quality Does Not Match High Praise
Major Disappointment: Sound Quality Does Not Match High Praise My experience with the SoundMAGIC E11C earbuds was severely disappointing and in no way matches the overwhelmingly positive reviews regarding their sound quality, particularly the praised mid-range clarity and bass response. I can only conclude that either I received a faulty unit or that the widespread high praise refers to a previous iteration of the E11C model, as the set supplied to me performed poorly. Sound Quality: The audio was truly appalling. There was virtually no bass response whatsoever, leaving the music sounding thin, harsh, and utterly lifeless. The mid-range was also significantly recessed and lacked definition. Overall Experience: The performance was so poor that the earbuds were unusable for critical listening or even general enjoyment. Thankfully, I was able to return them for a full refund promptly. Based on my experience, I strongly advise caution before purchasing. I would suggest looking elsewhere for budget in-ear monitors if fidelity is a priority.

hear pretty much everything
For the money these are an excellent buy. I listen to all sorts of genre but more often than not it will be modern classical pieces, the likes on Einaudi etc. You can hear the bows pulling across the strings, the breathiness of a woodwind instrument, the hit of the hammer on a piano key or the fizz of guitar string on fret as well as hearing the sound of the note. The sound is sharp and clear. They are not particularly bass-biased. I had to change the equalizer settings to produce a bit more bass. They seem well constructed, the earbuds are in a metal housing and the cable is prone to NOT getting tangled. Hurrah! They are a comfortable fit with 3 types of spare buds, I'm sure I can't be the only person who wears different size buds in each ear and both are a comfortable fit. I bought the inline option, so useful to be able turn up the volume (or down) without ferreting in my pocket or bag for the iPod. And I spend quite a bit of time upping the volume as these are not as loud as the previous pair of phones I was using. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on phones which are going to get a lot of hammer so for the money these are ideal.

Great sound quality, not so great fit!
Review date: 18th February 2020 Price: £49 ============= INTRODUCTION ============= I was looking for an inexpensive set of In-Ear Monitors (IEM’s) to compliment my Pioneer XDP-100R which I use for listening to Hi-Res music with. I have been currently using the 1MORE quad-driver IEM’s which are nice and balanced so wanted something a bit more punchy in the bass region. I’ve heard only good things about these IEM’s through audiophile reviews so thought I’d give them a try. ========= CONTENTS ========= The package contains the following contents: 1 x set of IEM’s 1 x zipped storage pouch 1 x set of small rubber tips 1 x set of large rubber tips 1 x set of “finned” rubber tips The IEM’s are securely held in a piece of foam to avoid damage during transit and are fitted with a set of medium rubber tips. The zipped storage pouch has a small net inside where you can keep the IEM’s along with the spare tips, which are already sealed in a small, plastic zip bag. ============== SOUND QUALITY ============== As previously mentioned I listen to Hi-Res audio using a dedicated Digital Audio Player (DAP) and since this source is considered to be good quality it allows me to make a fair appraisal of the sound quality. Whilst I don’t claim to be an audiophile, I can appreciate a good set of headphones. The 1MORE IEM’s I currently use are fairly balanced across the sound frequency range, the bass isn’t heavy and the treble isn’t overdone. You might consider them to be boring, but they have their place depending on what music you are using them to listen to. In comparison, I found the E11C’s to have a more pronounced bass, but not overdone, which made it more enjoyable to listen to some more bass heavy tracks such as “Flight to LAPD” from the Blade Runner 2049 soundtrack. Male vocals come out pretty well, as heard during Frank Sinatra’s “One for my Baby” also from the Blade Runner 2049 sound track. I’d go as far as to say it was on par with the 1MORE IEM’s previously mentioned. It’s worth mentioning that the 1MORE IEM’s in question were bought for £155 back in January 2018 and I have spent over 200 hours listening with them. I think it’s easy to say that these <£50 IEM’s are fantastic value for money as they’re giving these 1MORE’s a run for their money! ========= COMFORT ========= As previously mentioned, there are different sized tips included which will fit the large majority of users. The rubber tips can be removed by reversing the skirt and pulling the tip away by holding the thicker rubber inside. Be careful if you’re pulling it off by holding the skirt as you may tear the rubber. I found the medium size to provide the best fit, however, I do not feel that it made an adequate seal. Secondly, I found that one side sealed slightly less than the other which is something I’ve not encountered before. I could still hear about 50% of outside noise when used in an office so if you intend to use these in a loud environment such as an office or on public transport, I would recommend looking for a different set of IEM’s. The biggest flaw with these IEM’s has got to be the shape of the body. Once the IEM is securely fitted into my ear I could feel the end of the body (where the L or R is printed) against the antitragus of each ear (check a ear diagram to see where this is). After about 30 minutes of listening, the typical length of an album, I found the IEM’s to be painful on my ears and I would need to remove them. This is a deal breaker for me as at that point I won’t care how good the sound quality is if you can’t use them. =========== CONCLUSION =========== For the price, these are a good sounding pair of IEM’s but are majorly let down by comfort issues. The supplied rubber tips do not provide an adequate seal despite different sizes being provided. I wanted to like these but unfortunately I will have to return them due to the pain endured from such short use.

Great sound, possible issue with fitting my ears - need to experiment with supplied rubber buds,
