National Geographic Battles of the Civil War Wall Map (35.75 x 23.25 in) (National Geographic Reference Map)

The map is great for planning a road trip, you see everything in front of you.

A few years ago, I came into possession of National Geographic's Battles of the Civil War Wall Map. For trying to encapsulate the campaigns of the entire war on a 36' x 23' canvas, it does an amazing job. Dots cover the map, helping to provide some concept of how the battles were numerous and extended across the country. It uses arrows to indicate the major campaigns of the North and South. Of course, it also displays snapshots of the major battles.I have taken this map across several jobs during my career and it is a great conversation starter. The reactions from my coworkers are always entertaining. Some are amazed at some of the places that saw action. Others are amazed at the number of battles. An individual always wants to point out where they were born or where they have traveled, which always leads to a discussion on some random battle. On battlefields, I use the  Battles of the Civil War Laminated Wall Map .This is certainly the best damn Civil War map I have ever seen. If you know of a better one, please tell me about it.

I purchased this to continue some family research.

I wanted a reference map I could go to when reading CW history. Put this in a poster frame and keep it nearby for easy access without having to fold and unfold. Exceeded my expectation but the map IS a but busy but I guess it has to be to show all the battles that occurred.

Thank god this one came rolled, not folded. Very use resource, well laid out.

I like this map as it is very fun to study. You will see so many more battle locations than you could imagine. Also, it is a great conversation piece that anyone (history buff or not) will enjoy discussing.

I bought for my boyfriend who is a civil war buff and he loved it!

I bought this map for my "Civil War Buff" husband. I went to local stores and was unable to find what I was looking for. Was happy to find it on Amazon - it is a good quality map. I had the map matted and framed and it looks great in his office.
