Pros -I was not sure what to think as it was a brand I did not know well. However, the media quality is absolutely stunning and beautiful. Everything looks majestic on the computer. At a lower price, you definitely get what you pay for - and then some. The backlit keyboard is also very nice for the overall price of the laptop. The laptop is also very slim and lightweight.Cons -The computer does seem a bit slow at times, namely multiple tabs in a web browser, but it is nothing to be concerned about.Overall -For being a less-known brand of computer, the Xidu 12.5" laptop definitely is up there enough to compete with top name brands .

Do Not Buy!
The laptop is pretty lightweight and the specs aren't half bad for the price. However you can tell they saved money on the plastic shell. The screen, while nice, came with a line of dead pixels. Not too noticeable, but still disappointing. The power button is also in an awkward spot. Want to click backspace? Well you just shut off the laptop. The battery life is about 2-2.5 hours of light browsing. The charger is pretty flimsy, by that I mean it'll pop off easily. Would recommend a new one if you plan on using it while you charge. Overall it's not a bad computer, just has some quirks to it. Take care of it and you'll be getting your moneys worthUpdate: I had to drop it from 3 to 1 star as the battery was faulty, as was the battery on the replacement, and had screen issues after an hour of use. Would not recommend this laptop or brand as you'll just waste your money.

Not a great Start...
I picked this up on a flash deal with a stunningly cheap price - with Amazon returns figured why not. Decent CPU, decent memory and fairly high resolution screen (if small). Great for a highly portable system that isn't my primary. The first thing that struck me is how light this is, even with the box, packing and power supply. Impressive. The fit seems ok but the finish is a little "plastic" feeling. I will say the screen didn't flex much. Powered right up and from the little I saw, thing arrived fine except for one pretty glaring flaw...When I opened it, near the top middle there was a smudge on the plastic and a few bits of dust on the keyboard. I got a little suspicious. Then noticed that the upper right hand corner of the screen had been peeled back about half a centimeter. And I don't mean protective film! It seemed like someone got the corner of the glossy finish plastic up and started peeling it back. I'm confident this isn't a protective sheet (though maybe they do come with these) as 1). I'm not a moron, 2) have been working with computers for an entire careeer, and 3) played with the corner a bit to confirm the plastic was UNDER the bezel and that it was stiff. I have ZERO clue how someone got under the bezel to start this in the first place. It seemed like the display worked with and without this coating, but under was more of a matte finish and this was a glossy finish coat. I wasn't about to keep it - it's already being cross shipped from Amazon and if I had to gamble, I'd say it was returned. If it was a manufacturing flaw, so be it, but it would have been an obvious one.I look forward to updating my review after looking at the screen in all it's glory and playing with sound. I plan on running Linux Mint on it so If anyone is interested I'll post my experiences. Keep in mind, the screen is tiny. The bezel was actually a bit bigger than I expected and the 12" diagonal is at a high ratio.Anyway, 3 stars for now since it booted out of the box and otherwise looked ok. The keyboard caught a bit while typing and the power key stuck momentarily when depressing. You get what you pay for and I wasn't expecting miracles for this money so we'll see how the replacement fares.

Good for writing/researching without distractios
I'm a writer who needed a reliable, small notebook for writing/research/learning on the go. This little laptop is perfect for that. Wish it had a larger drive, as I don't always have access to cloud storage and want local access to large PDFs and other documents offline, but an SD card and external hard drive help. 64G is standard for a solid state hard drive, so it's the market standard, not the manufacturer's. Has enough room for Office 365, Scrivener, Aeon Timeline, and Dragon Naturally Speaking with about 25G to spare. Note that Dropbox won't sync with removable media (i.e., an SD card) so I ended up using the Multcloud online service to sync my 72G of Dropbox files to OneDrive, then installed OneDrive on the SD card to download/sync them back thru Multcloud. (Multiple backups are good in my world of not entrusting documents to only one cloud service) The backlit keyboard was a deal breaker for me, and it's beautiful. I'm also a fast typist, and the keyboard is designed to actually accommodate heavy input. This notebook weighs about as much as a thick paper notebook; it slips easily into a small backpack. Note that the on/off button is right above the backspace, so accidentally putting the notebook to sleep is a frequent, somewhat annoying thing. But you can wake it up again by long-pressing the same button again. It's not as if the notebook shuts off. Note also that the top feels fragile; be gentle with it. Battery life is 4-5 hours with heavy internet use. I've gotten as much as 7 hours offline reading / writing time. I'm glad to have this little workhorse.

Excellent product - backed up by A1 customer service!
I don’t normally write reviews for products - but I felt compelled this time, after receiving this product from Amazon. This is in fact the third laptop that I have purchased from the manufacturer/seller XIDU. The first was a 10 inch touch screen tablet laptop, for my daughter, that I took a long time deciding upon after reading reviews and considering the purchase carefully. The product was excellent, and only topped by an extremely attentive and responsive customer service. I had a small problem with the license key which the staff at XIDU, whom I dealt with directly, couldn’t do enough to sort out for me, and kept in contact until I was absolutely satisfied. When it came to purchasing another laptop a few months later, I purchased exactly the same model for my other daughter, because we were so pleased with the product. Again top marks to XIDU who also sent us a free mouse with the purchase. So, when it came to purchasing another laptop - this time for Dad - it seemed sensible to consider what XIDU had to offer. I wanted a more traditional laptop that used the far superior Windows operating system, but was ultra portable and had a great battery life. I also wanted to have a larger screen to help with my ever failing eyesight! Another consideration was of course value for money, when comparing devices with similar specifications. The best device for the job that XIDU had to offer seemed to be the 12.5 inch Windows 10 laptop. Certainly comparing it with other models at a similar specifications the price was spot on. Therefore, because I had great confidence in the customer service offered by XIDU and with the specification and price that seemed ideal, I purchased my third laptop from this company. As usual the delivery from Amazon was superb, and I received the device the day after ordering it. It didn’t take me long to set up the laptop and login to my wireless network. Initial impressions were really good with a superbly slim form-factor and an extremely light weight. The battery life as well seem very good - giving well over 6 hours of continuous operation. This was all backed up by the excellent windows operating system that uses Cortana voice control. The laptop has a back-lit illuminated keyboard which really impressed my daughters and means it can be operated more easily in the dark! The keyboard is very easy to use, with good response from the keys. The screen is large, very clear and bright. One particular feature I like is the mouse. For me mouses are over sensitive and suffer from incorrect placement, this one is excellent - meaning that I have not yet accidently operated it unintentionally, with my fat hands! The laptop seems to have all the connections you would ever need, including HDMI and the option to add additional storage via a SD card. The best thing though is the portability - this thing is seriously light and thin - similar to those massively expensive products from perhaps more well known manufacturers, who have experience less than good customer service from.In conclusion, I would recommend this product to anyone that wants a great product at a great price, backed up by personal, attentive customer service.

Near perfection if it was not for one slip up
The specs are great, runs smoothly, looks good even if it's plastic. Great battery life, lightweight. Probably the best portable laptop you will get for the price. It's even better than the more expensive ones. Now for the one major flaw, well in my eyes at least. The HDMI function does not work. This was a deal breaker for me and I had to send it back. I wanted this laptop so I could easily carry it around everywhere I go and connect it to bigger displays like at home on a big TV or at work instead of carrying a heavy laptop.I communicated with XIDU they did what they could but the issue was not resolved. They said the fault lies in some laptops not all but I am not sure if that is true or not. I may purchase again in a few months to see if anything has changed.

DO NOT BUY, CHEAP BUT WILL NOT WORK
It has been about a year that I have had this product. It charges fairly quickly and battery life is good. The print is very small, very challenging to the eyes. The bottom of the laptop is coming off for a long time, kind of split. I keep pressing it together and does not succeed. It is kind of split, but has been working fine. It is made of some flimsy material, not stuck properly.the screws came out ages ago within 2 months, lost most of the screws that were holding the 2 pieces together with the 4 rubber material on the bottom to helped to stand the laptop without the metal bit touching the table it is on.. That has not worried me as long as it works.I had received a charger that had 3 pin plug, but after 10 months of use, it is 2 pin as one pin is broken. I have been able to still charge the laptop on one of the sockets in upstairs bedroom, near the wardrobe but cannot have a table to work at, so rather inconvenient to charge when working.I am now finding that I do need a replacement as I cannot charge it in hotels or trains or anywhere in the office. Also none of the USB sticks ever worked, so to transfer files from my main computer to laptop or vice versa, I have had to email myself the files, and can get very tedious.Right now the charger is an issue, as I cannot find one to purchase. I am looking for a a replacement. By writing a review, I am hoping Xidu will get back to me about the replacement charger. Either they can sell it to me or let me know what type I need. For the price I paid, it is adequate, but would have also liked better print. Yes, some keyboard like " and @and £ is different to what you expect to be, but one gets used to it, this is not a big issue either. The print could have been larger and a getting a replacement charger is a big issue, the later has stopped me using it until I get home to charge it again.Images will be added later on, when transferred from mobile. The laptop stopped working last Wednesday, 20th November for no reason at all. Cannot be switched on.

Laptop returned for refund
The @ and " characters are not appearing correctly in Windows and are transposed (US Keyboard). Also the A/C jack fits the headphone socket and vice versa - as my child found out. How this passed CE I will never know. Anyway - no longer my problem.

Powerful for the price
I was looking for a Windows laptop weighing around 1.5 kgs to use as I travel. I wanted a light and study device with a decent battery so it could last an entire day. With a super a low budget my expectations weren't high...just something sturdy and lightweight for basic tasks. I was surprised when this arrived. This laptop has reasonable specs for the price and a battery of about 7 hours so far, which is perfect. The laptop is a good size for a bag but I worry without a decent case the laptop might become easily damaged due to its plastic construction. The plastic does make the laptop super light, however. The screen is decent though the onboard storage is very limited you can easily add an SD card to use for basic memory storage. The backlit keyboard is perfect and allows me to easily see the keys in the dark - perfect for late night typing! The battery charges pretty quickly! Recently had a laptop with a battery life of 7 hours take took about 5 to charge to full! So it's nice to have a battery that can charge to full in around an hour or so.All in all, this laptop is a decent choice at a good price. It's not the very best out there, due to the plastic, but at its price, it's enough for someone who doesn't need high powered programs or lots of storage.Hope this helps.Update: Charger broke after 5 uses. I spoke to customer service who told me they had none in stock and said I'd need to buy myself a replacement. I've lowered my rating due to this.
