Q: What are the measurements armpit to armpit?

Armpit to armpit across the chest is 31". Measured laying flat on table.

Q: I'm 5'8, 145, broad shouldered, plan to wear this over a t-shirt; i like it to fit a little loose; should i get a m, l, or xl?

I am 5-8 and 160 and I wear M in this shirt but -- over a T shirt I would try L-- more loose -- could be a bit long on the bottom and sleeves.
