BOTARO 17-CROC28-W 28" Martindale Machete Wood Handle, with Leather Sheath

Cuts through 1in. sassafras in 1 or 2 blows, clears everything else. Recommend a 30 degree edge for durability.

This is a nice machete. I bought it because it’s super long and I wanted to be ridiculous, but it is really great quality. I might trim down the scales a bit to make it fit my hand better. Very good machete especially for the price.

I was in search of a long machete, 28 inch blade is the top of the line I really cant find longer, Real length is 27 and 1/4th inches BTW I measures it .75 off, To me personally that gives me even a bigger reason to go with the SITEPRO Brand machete its 24 inches I measured it and its exact so this one is only 3 and 1/4th inches longer than the sitepro but the price is 61 usd with tax sitepro coming to 39 with tax. That said I wanted it reliable an durable, It came in a bit bent to the left side an with normal use out brush clearing the issue had gotten worse, The handle comes blocky as usual with this price range you sand it down to your liking I sanded mine down quiet a bit and used some wilson grip wraps, The edge will require a bit of belt sanding work/ You can do it with a file but it will take awhile, I had tested it on a few live limbs, Drying/dead limbs as summer is coming an in the pnw the heat strokes where bad the last couple summers so stuff starts to dry up, That said I dont want to have to worry about my blade bending if it deflects off due to the steel profile an it being able to bend way to much for a machete, When you strike down with force it could deflect into another derection causing you to strike whatever you are striking with the side of the machete an that quick deflection, strike will cause a bad bend, So folks this one is a no go I opted for the SITEPRO 24 INCH BLADE machete with seath for only $39 with tax to the door, and that one is a winner came straight an going thru bush is maintained true going thru thicker stuff, Will be posting a review on that one. Quick recap/ Summary dont get this machete the the steel they use for this has way to much bend.

Land surveyor, bought the blade and sheath combo since it was time for a new machete. Machete is good, Martindale quality. Sheath is a little disappointing. Leather is sown together with a twist in the bottom of the sheath so it can be difficult to get the machete in and out of without cutting the sheath with the edge of your blade

Sharpened it up it has held up and sliced through miles of bushes so far. Great value for your money. I will get another once I have sharpened the blade gone.
