VANGUARD ESPOD AM-204S Espod Monopod

I am not even going to waste my time writing about this product. this is the worst monopod that money can buy, please keep away from this item. i honestly threw it away.

This is not a bad little unit... It worked fine with my PEN (EP-M1 with kit lens). The leg sections locked very tight and there was very little flex when extended. I like the latch hook and wrist strap as well as the minuscule weight. BUT I bought this expecting that the 6 lb rating was what the ball head could hold steady in any position. I didn't find that to be the case - When I screwed on my Oly E-3 with 12-60 lens attached (3.6lbs per my kitchen scale), I couldn't crank the head tight enough to hold it steady... and FORGET sideways in portrait position. So I am returning it in favor of something a little beefier.

I have not had the opportunity to use this yet but am very pleased with the quality. This one is a bit smaller, lighter than the one I purchased for my son but I believe it will work for what I need it for.

This monopod will support a toy camera or a very small point and shoot....not made for a DSLR....spend a little more and get something stronger.

Upon reading some of the reviews, I opened it upon delivery and put my Canon XSi with my 10-22mm on the monopod. It holds it. If I shake/jerk the monopod with enough force, the camera does slowly points downward. The force I used was greater than what I would be doing when actually using the monopod. I'm pretty sure my Canon 60D would work on it as well, but probably not with my 70-300mm lens. But for amateur photographers out there that have the lighter-weight EOS (and Nikon equiv), it'd work just fine. Or the point-and-shoots. If you're rocking a 1D with a 400mm f/2.8L, you're not in the market for this.

Used for a Nikon 3200 -- Great Monopod for the money. I bought this b/c it was a good price, had the easy collapsible flip locks i like, light enough for me to carry. The foamy grip is helpful in a humid day. And i could shoot at a 90 degree angle. Now the camera mount is a totally different subject. A lot of tripods and monopods have this type of mount. If your using the monopod and want to take the camera off quickly, you have to unscrew it first and then you miss the shot you wanted. So I attached a HAMA quick release camera mount to the monopod camera mount. So the situation mentioned above is not a problem. I do not use heavy / long lenses. The new lenses are much lighter than the lenses I used in the late 80s and 90s. So I have not experienced the problem described by a previous reviewer. I like this monopod a lot & very happy with the purchase.

it's hella light it's great for go pro arm construction is okay the ball head mount doesn't come off kinda get what you pay for here. not the best but definitely worth it's price.

just got this monopod and realized that quality is the way to go, and find it in the store before I buy it on line had it on and off in the house a couple of times and all i wanted to do was go spend more money on a better quality one- but thought i would give it a go Today I was outside using it in a shoot Me 5 foot 8 inches, and it is too short for me the lever to tighten, hurts my fingers, and really light weight ball/attachment, not smooth at all well now I wanted to take the monopod off my camera and screw stayed in and the pod unscrewed from the attaching head I don't think it supposed to do that… hope its covered under warranty and i want that attaching screw out of the bottom of my camera will be looking for a monopod that better suits my needs.
