Soundboard recording recorded live at Tanglewood, Lenox, MA 7/21/70. Review: Early Chicago - quality stuff - fast shipping, surprisingly good recording for a 1970 concert. Chicago was a "jam band" in the early days (this recording) and not the 3 minute pop machine they'd become. Review: You will feel better.. - Having purchased many Chicago Live albums over the years --- beginning with the debacle called "Chicago IV Live at Carnegie Hall" (3 times: twice on LP and then CD --- Just take a $100 bill and burn it in your backyard instead of making the investment. You will feel better...) and then purchasing stuff from the mid 70's "Chicago Live in 75", "Terry's Last Stand" and Kentucky Derby" and YES ...even early 70's "Chicago - Live in Japan", you will NOT be disappointed with THIS disc. Wondering where the recording engineers who recorded THIS "Tanglewood" GEM were when Carnegie Hall was recorded 3 years later.... I would argue the sound is as good --- even BETTER than "Chicago - Live in Japan." Repertoire is limited to first 2 (GREAT) albums with a preview to III.... BUT man, the band is REALLY cooking on this disc. BUY IT! Then... buy" Live in Japan." After that... put your wallet away!

incredible live recording from 1970
this is probably one of the top 10 concerts of all time and it was recorded at tanglewood, boston pops country retreat and recording studio. most live concert recordings from 1970 are horrible, but the boston pops had state of the art recording, mixing, etc. and chicago had just released their first album 6 months before and were still a jam band. the guitar solo on 25 or 6 to 4 ranks in the top solos of all time as well, terry kath is on fire, the back up singing is peter cetera and he plays a jamming base. the horns are the first rock horn section of all time and they are spot on with intricate timing. this one is really a 10 star cd. watch it live on youtube.

Chicago Live at Tanglewood
Chicago live at Tanglewood 21 July 1970. This show is available on YouTube in various edits. This CD gives us the whole thing including "Ballet for a Girl in Buchannon" in all of its 12:23 glory. Chicago kicked butt live in the early days. No liner notes other than what is on the back cover.

Some hits, some misses, but overall good history
Not that great musically, it’s kind of sloppy and noisy and distorted. Not at all as clean as their studio work, but it’s OK if you just wanna have a piece of history. The intro to “does anybody really know what time it is” is awful but the song actually is pretty good. The reason I bought it was for that incredible guitar solo in “25 or 6 to 4.” It’s totally worth it just for that! If you have not seen it on YouTube, it is a must watch . it ranks right up there with the top guitar solos of all time, including aqualung, comfortably numb, bohdisaatva and a few others.

Great sound quality and performance. A welcomed addition for this long-time Chicago collector.

One of a Kind Performance!!!
If you've viewed this concert on YouTube, then you should definitely purchase the CD. Although it's pricey and rare, you need this in your collection if you're a fan of early Chicago. The performances of "Introduction", Robert Lamm's piano solo going into "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?", "25 or 6 to 4" with Terry Kath's blistering guitar, and the ant-war protest song "It Better End Soon" featuring Walter Parazaider on flute makes this a great listen for those who love live music. In addition, their live version of James Pankow's "Ballet for a Girl in Buchannon" is much better than the studio recording. This CD showcases the "real" Chicago in my humble opinion.

Terry Kath for ever in memoriam.

Ottimo
Nemmeno sull'ultimo Box set: VI Decades live (this is what we do) , è presente . Peccato.

Jetzt kommen Sachen heraus........
Chicago!!!

Ottimo CD.
