One Hundred Love Sonnets: Cien sonetos de amor

In English and Spanish. Beautiful sonnets.

This book was mentioned in the Amazon Original movie "Chemical Hearts" (which was a great movie by the way). I wanted to read this book after watching the movie and I'm glad I bought this version which is the most popularly known/translated since the 80s. After I received it, I immediately began reading it. Call me a hopeless romantic but I was tears as I begun to read his beautiful words for the first time. A must read.

I speak both English and Spanish (but my Spanish is a second language so it's not as good). I find that this book makes learning new Spanish vocabulary more easy for me. I also love the poetry because it is beautiful. It does evoke feelings.The book itself was in perfect condition when I recieved it. And, I recommend you consider getting this book. It's a very enjoyable read.

This is a nice edition. Makes a nice gift for someone you love. Neruda writes such beautiful romantic poems - this collection will speak to anyone who is in love. Having the Spanish and English is great and the translation generally is very good.

Pablo Nuruda is an amazing poet who's writings center on earth tones. Check out sonnet 17.

This was first published in 1960 and expresses the love Pablo Neruda had for his wife, Matilde. It is difficult to read many of these poems only once, they seem to demand to be read twice to understand their full meaning.What appears again and again in these poems is images of the sea, wheat/bread, blood, hair, birds, moon, fruits and fire. Pablo Neruda really connected with nature and expresses his love through these images.Sometimes the stunning intimacy in these poems brings you close to tears. Pablo Neruda had such a complete understanding of what love meant. A few of the poems just gave me chills. I have never come across another poet who felt as deeply seduced by love as Neruda.However, sometimes he gets a bit dramatic like when he says, "I will die of love because I love you." Well that is how love sometimes feels but it sounds so serious. A few of the poems are a bit erotic in a veiled way.Mostly these poems just make you feel a happy sigh of elation. It was with great pleasure that I read this book, yet another great book of poems by Neruda. One sonnet even made me laugh.~The Rebecca Review

Such a wonderful collection of sensual yet thoughtful poetry. I ordered this particular edition since it has the original Spanish on the left page while the English translation is on the right. I've enjoyed comparing the two and the different meanings inherent in the different languages.
