LifeMold Impression Material - 16 OZ.

I bought this brand to compare with AlgaeSafe by SmoothOn. You have to do a little math to get the proportions right because it's 7:1 by weight not 1:1 (volume) like AlgaeSafe. Weigh the water (less the container of course) and then divide by 7 for the weight of the product to add. Have to work fast because it sets up quickly. I do that by hand with a wire whisk. I twirl the whisk between my hands for a bit. Now even with distilled water it still comes out a bit "cheesy" where the product doesn't thoroughly mix with the water to create a smooth uniform colloid. But it still works fine. Just demold quickly and cast your part. It seems to dry out quickly and shrink so it helps to keep your production moving along. Just have to stay on top of your project.

I originally wrote about this product. Upon receipt I followed the directions to the letter and used distilled water but it did not set. I tried the whole batch using different temps and water and no results at all. So I contacted the seller and they told me it was probably a bad batch and sent me a replacement without any questions. When it arrived, I tried it immediately following the directions and using distilled water. The mold material worked perfectly and fast. Thanks to the supplier for sending another batch that worked.

Product appears to be more sensitive to water conditions than other alginate products. First shipment did not mix, the company is working with me on another run and has been supportive to ensure my satisfaction.

I'm a novice and this is hard to use but the quality is there :-)

At first I was disappointed with this product, It wouldn't mix properly. One day I actually read the directions and learned that tap water was not recommended for mixing this alginate. I switched to distilled water per the directions and it worked perfectly, exactly as it was supposed to!
