This swim cap changed my life
My dreads are 17 years old next week, and my longest ones are over 3 feet. For years now, I have simply tied my hair back, at the nape of my neck, and just swam anyway. This isn’t a great solution, as it’s heavy enough to cause a strain on my neck, but it would keep my dreads from binding in my armpits when I swam crawlstroke and butterfly. It would also completely soak my hair every time I swam, requiring more frequent washings than is really good for them, and making me unable to swim more often than every 3 or four days (so they’ll dry fully in between). Caps, of course, would hold about a third of my hair. Useless. It kept me from pursuing swimming as a fitness regimen or a sport, literally for decades now.But this cap holds all my hair, with room to spare! My hair gets damp, but dries within the afternoon, whereas a good drenching takes easily 24 hours or more to dry, depending on the weather.I can swim laps, and sets, and do all the strokes, and am training for meets again. I didn’t think I’d be able to do that again, unless I cut my hair off (unthinkable!).A few notes:1. As I said, your hair will not stay completely dry if you submerge your head; my scalp gets fully wetted, and my dreads are damp when I take the cap off. It’s like I walked in the rain, instead of submerged myself for an hour.2. Putting it on can be tricky. I tie my dreads into a wide bun on the crown of my head, so it all stays close to my head, and it helps if I can have someone hold the edge of the cap to my forehead, while I stretch it up and back.3. The cap doesn’t want to give up whatever air is inside! Be prepared to spend some time upside down underwater, squeezing the air out, after the cap is on. Or, be prepared to have an extra-buoyant head! 😂4. Caps do wear out, and when they do, they break. Protect your cap from the sun, excessive heat, sharp and pointy things. Rinse off chlorine and salt water. Store it flat or folded ONLY after it’s fully dry. The more you stretch it, both “the farther …” and “the more times …”, the sooner it will break. Of course, many of the things that cause it to wear out are just part of regular use, so if you like your cap, keep a backup on hand. I just ordered mine!

Keeps the water out
When getting in the pool or at the beach this has a snug fit for my dreads and keeps the water out.

My Hair Got Wet
The cap seemed to fit snug around my scalp and I was happy that my locs fit inside. It’s possible that it was me, but my hair still got wet. Not a little wet, but wet wet. I’ve only used it the one time. If I try it again sometime soon and have a different experience I will update this review.

Perfect for my Locs!!
Perfect for thick hair and long locs! I finally found a swim cap that actually fits! For loc’d buyers, I definitely recommend! My hair is thick and my locs are to the middle of my back. I put them in a bun and pull the cap over it, front to back to avoid pulling my hair...then squeeze the top of the cap/my bun to remove air pockets from the cap! I generally wear the cap over my ears bc i hate water in my ears (new swimmer) which does cause a small amount of water to seep in, but my hair is only wet around my ears which doesn't bother me bc its easier for me to wash/rinse 4-8 locs vs my entire head of locs! Wear the cap above your ears if you don’t mind water in your ears though. My wife also has locs (shoulder length) and her head is shaved around the sides and back, this cap fits her perfectly as well but she has more room in the cap since her hair isn't as long and thick as mine. To clean/care, rinse with warm water after a swim then hand wash with hand soap every so often!

Losing its seal when I float in the pool
Thought this would keep my 36” of dreadlocks dry when I float in the pool. Not quite. Water still manages to get into the cap and eventually my ears.

Swim cap
Like the color and size of this cap. It is able to hold my braids in well. Only thing is when I was first trying to put it on for water aerobics as a small piece tore off at the rim. I was hoping this would not happen. I placed it on my head as I have seen in YouTube instructions but this needs to be more sturdier. If you buy this buy 2 just in case or just be careful when placing on head. I can tell you that it does fit snug on the head. Haven't tried swimming yet but so far keeps my protective style dry.
