How is this model different from the standard bodum 12-oz press with the metal holder which is twice the price?

Plastic lid, handle, and base not metal. Press is metal however. They work the same, just a matter of looks.

The Pitcher is made of Borosilicate Glass. The Brazil 12 Cup (1.5 Liter ) [51fl.oz] is made in Portugal.

Last I checked, 4 cups is 32 oz. Why does it say this is an 8 cup (34 oz) coffee maker?

I have since coffee grind on the outside glass stuck between the glass and bottom part: how to clean without breaking the glass?

You *can* get these apart to clean, but be very careful. The most obvious way is to lift the top of the handle to "unhook" it. That's not the easiest way, but if you have the strength it's the safest. I find it easier to remove the base by turning upside down. Looking at the bottom you want to push the beaker with your thumbs while holding the plastic base with your finger tips. The plastic will be more flexible if you soak it in hot soapy water. The dish soap in the hot water will help it slide out. It may pop out suddenly and is very breakable. I always re-assemble base 1st, then snap the handle over the edge of the beaker. (I've had a few of these. Some fit quite tightly others are fairly easy to remove.)

Small Bodum coffee press

My 92 year old godmother finds this coffee press excellent. The handle is easy for her to hold, it is easy to clean and she loves the coffee it makes.

Love Bodum but...

Thought the red would be fun, but for some reason it feels like a much thinner plastic. Wouldn't buy this one again. Bought the "original" -- kind of boring but works great.

Arrived with cracked lid

Generally a great product that I’ve bought many times before. Unfortunately this time the lid was split on arrival. Have been using anyways but it’s becoming increasingly problematic.

Le système Bodum est toujours de bonne qualité et la couleur très sympa. Mais la tige est trop courte. Elle ne descend pas jusqu’en bas de la cafetière. Si vous ne mettez pas beaucoup de café, vous ne pourrez pas le presser. Dommage. Je voulais une cafetière polyvalente de 3 à 6 tasses. Avec elle ça ne marche pas. Je ne trouve aucune cafetière 4 tasses. Donc j’ai ressorti ma cafetière 2 tasses et je fais mon café 2 fois. Déçue
