ColumbiaWomen's Storm Surge Pant

I wish I'd bought them years ago
I have been desperate to find a fabric mosquitos can't bite through until it dawned on me: waterproof. But then finding pants that were ACTUALLY 100% waterproof was a whole other issue. THESE ARE. I've bathed the dogs while wearing them, they are completely waterproof and better than that, THEY'RE MOSQUITO PROOF. I get snacked on like a juice box once it's warm in Texas and typically they only EVER bite my legs (even though I never wear shorts and I'm always in a tank top) and that is where I have a weird horrible allergic reaction to them. Since I got these, I don't go outside without them on and now they're just biting me on the back like cowards (but i don't have an allergic reaction to those so whatever i guess) SO THE PANTS ARE DOING THEIR EXTRA JOB. Zero bites on my legs.As for fit, I got x-small, I'm about 5'4 and weigh 100 pounds and they fit perfect. I probably could have gotten the shorter fit and it would have been fine but I don't mind a little extra length at the bottom, they're not dragging on the ground or swallowing my feet or anything like that. They DON'T have pockets, however there is one small pouch on the inside that you could put something small in like a wallet or money (it wouldn't fit a phone its not that big). They do do the swish swish sound like windbreakers so if you're looking for quiet pants, these aren't them, but otherwise, they ARE waterproof and they are mosquito proof, and they're comfortable and light enough to wear in texas heat without feeling like theres a swamp in my pants.

Backpacking-Proof Waterproof Pants
I purchased these pants when they were on sale in XS. Initially, I thought I should size up because I was going to be putting warm layers under these pants. However, these pants were the perfect fit. I wore these pants on a three day backpacking trip. They were totally waterproof— they withstood two days of rain, tons of mud, and were breathable enough that they allowed me to dry up super quickly after a swim in freezing water. Super functional and comfortable. They also operate well as an outside shell layer to retain heat when it’s cold. Overall, really impressed.

I guess these pants are good
Ordered the “short” length and it’s perfect. Velcro around ankles are somewhat useless- could have been made to tighten it more. These pants did keep me dry. There aren’t any pockets. Fits nice, but a bit snug around the butt.. I had another person try them on and they said the same- tight fitting around the bum. I guess these pants are good but not for the price.

Truly waterproof
Got dumped on by a waterfall in Iceland and this was the only piece of clothing that kept me dry. Highly recommend!

Run large
They fit over my size 16W jeans with room to spare and enough length in the rise that I can bend over. They are very long in the leg and wide in the ankle--but should be okay over boots. I may add elastic around the ankle since the Velcro doesn't cinch sufficiently. Nice feeling fabric--I won't know how waterproof until the winter rains return.

SO unstylish but otherwise achieve their mission
These pants are not cute, not in even the remotest sense. They are noisy - you will hear the swish swish of your legs rubbing together when you walk and the crackle of the fabric. They kind of look like you are wearing a matte trashbag. Overall, they are not something that I really wanted to spend the money on, but I got a pretty good price, they are pretty light weight, and they did seem to be good at cutting the wind. I can't really tell if they kept me dry as I finally put them on once I had already been out walking in the rain and the rain had soaked through my jeans and into my thermal long johns, but I don't think I got any wetter even though we went out into a torrential rain storm.I REALLY wish I could have found something cuter - I did like the Eddie Bauer Women's Polar Lined Pants which are fleece lined and water resistant but I didn't get to test them out in a storm. These pants were at least $15 less than I found "waterproof" pants almost anywhere else. They are large enough to put over whatever else you have on, but it can be a bit of a struggle. They do have a velcro strap at the bottom of each leg to tailor it enough that it doesn't drag on the ground if the legs are too long. I'm 5'1" and about 118 and the X-Small was the best size for me.

An Essential for Iceland!
Perfect for our trip to Iceland! We were able to do a glacier hike in the rain and get close to waterfalls while staying warm and dry.I am 5'3 and usually wear size 10. The medium short pants were the perfect length, and had plenty of stretch in the waistband, but no give in the thigh or hip area. The large short were baggy in the legs, but gave me the mobility that I needed for hiking and room to layer underneath. I was able to pull them over my pants and boots from inside our rental vehicle. The velcro adjustments helped me shorten the length. If I visit Ireland and Scotland again, I will definitely be packing these.

Excelente calidad
Muy buenos. Quedan un poco grandes pero me los quedé porque son para un viaje y me los puedo poner encima de otros pantalones que no sean impermeables.

Good for the price
I bought the short medium. Usually im a medium in sweats, and a size 27-28 in silver jeans. (27inch waist, 38 hips, 23inch thighs)The reviews saying these run large are both right and wrong: these do run large fir me, but in the legs. Which never happens. I have big thighs in comparison to my body and i put these on over two thick layers: a chamois liner (using these for biking) AND jeans and these STILL had lots of width in the legs. But i did find that these fit true to size in the waist/hips. (i am a pear shaped body type btw)Also the short fit me almost perfect and im 5'3. About and inch or so long but very doable. As for the wide legs i am going to reign them in at the calves by wrapping a couple of reflector straps around them for visibility.. and so i dont get caught in my bike. The outside material and inside mesh are the exact same as columbia's arcadia jacket. Theyre sort of noisy but hey, when its raining and windy its not noticable. All in all these were a pretty good buy
