When you open the box the cleaner is neatly put together however the only time the cleaner stays assembled is when it's not in use. Hard to describe w/o a video but it's such a mess to use I didn't try to make a vid. Here's my experience...- My chain had a very light new coating of rust which I removed by brushing lightly with a wire brush from the dollar store- When you separate the two halves of the cleaner there's a rubber "sleeve" (the "vertical scraper anti-splash groove"} that falls out and doesn't fit/stay put when you reassemble the halves. I left it out and it still cleans your chain.- I filled the cleaner with Simple Green and tried to reassemble the two halves around the chain. The clamp wouldn't hold the halves together so you must hold the halves together around the chain with your hand- I tried using the hanger around the derailleur but it's unstable. Again, you have to hold the cleaner together with one hand- The only way it works is to fill w/Simple Green, put the 2 halves around your chain, hold the halves together with one hand and spin your chain by turning the pedal w/your other hand. Do this outside because it leaks everywhere. I rotated the chain for a few minutes and my chain was clean. Rinse and dry the chain then apply your lubeBottom line is that it doesn't work like the instructions say but it does clean your chain. I've cleaned 2 chains with it and both did get clean. There's probably a better solution out there but for $5 it's better than not having it.

This bike chain cleaner has come in really handy. Sure, you can just use a hand towel, but you won't get the job done as fast. The instructions were simple and it made cleaning my chain a breeze.My ONLY gripe is that the plastic is brittle. I broke the little snap on bits by sitting back on it. Before I noticed what had happened, it was too late. However, I looked at many models of bike chain cleaners, and that seems to be a common issue. It still works though. Can't complain too much for the price!

I have to say that this thing works like a charm. Put some simple green in it, spin the chain and there you have it, a clean chain.The reason that I bought it was because of some good reviews and the price. It seems like it's well made and made no mess.I really don't see how the more expensive options could work any better.

STAY AWAY!This too legitimately broke in 15 seconds of use. 2 tabs holding the top and bottom together and a piece of the opening where the chain goes it's snapped off. I was in disbelief.The Park Tool chain cleaner is more expensive but I got years of service out of it (and it kept working, I just lost it moving)

Broke after 2 uses. I can still kind of use it, but must rotate the chain very slowly. The plastic appears to have been chemically melted by the standard degreaser.I'll post pics asap.

I may not be using it right but I seemed to struggle to get the job done with this chain cleaner. Maybe the cleaner fluid I am using might be why. I can't seem to get the chain clean like I thought I would. Either way, I still like having it and will continue to use it.

I think I followed the instructions, but the rear derailleur just tilted forwards and let the hook loose each time I tried it. Tried using it with a chain that was off the bike and it did ok, but it won't remove heavy gunk and it will leave a bristle or two stuck in your chain. Gear tools are ok though.

Not great. Used twice and broke. Maybe consider a throw away? It did work well before it broke.
