Wright Products Heavy-Duty Pneumatic Storm Door Closer – Durable, Adjustable, Quiet-Closing with Hold-Open Feature (Transitional, White)

I bought the Wright Products Heavy-Duty Pneumatic Storm Door Closer after my kids pushed our storm door too far and bent the bar on the previous closer. This replacement has been excellent so far. It was very easy to install, fit perfectly, and immediately restored smooth operation to the door. The closer is durable and works just as advertised. The adjustable settings allow me to control how quickly or slowly the door shuts, and the quiet-closing action is a big plus compared to cheaper models I’ve used in the past. I also like the hold-open feature, which makes it convenient when carrying in groceries or moving things through the doorway. Overall, it’s a solid product that does its job reliably and feels built to last. TL;DR: Easy to install, durable, and works smoothly with useful features like adjustable closing speed and hold-open.

This was a easy install taking less than 10 minutes including drilling the pilot holes. The screws that come with are probably reasonable but my door is very heavy and exposed to significant NE winds (which pulled out and damaged the last closer I had). I chose to use 3.5 inch screws instead to make sure I was locked deep into the frame and beyond. If you are using this on a screen door you shouldn't need anything other than what was provided. Like all pneumatic closers that I have worked with, there is that slam at the end to make sure it latches and has nothing to do with the adjustable closing speed easily refined with a quarter to half turn to the screw on the closer. You can adjust how much of a slam there is by adjusting the bracket on the door (moving it father away) but it still exists and was quite aggressive on this model before I adjusted it. The price is right and it is working well. It's a little sticky opening and opens to just under 90 degrees but hopefully both loosen up with time.

Works great! (Jan 20, 2026, will update if it falls apart or breaks.) Previously had a Wright door closer on my storm door. Friend came by, opened it too far and messed em up so I had to replace it. Decided to go with the same brand since it seems they have the same foot print for mounting. They did, everything went together easily and I love the range of motion on this, before the door could only open at a maybe 80 degree angle. This one is allowing the door to open at maybe 110 degree, I didn't try to fully open it but it's more than enough. It functions well, the screw allows you to adjust how quickly it closes/how much air it releases at a time. Now let's see how long it lasts!

This is exactly what I wanted but inside you could hear loose parts when shaking it. I returned it and hope the second one works

Great item. Easy install as it replaces an identical model. Took longer to unpack and dispose of the trash than install.
