I bought this lantern about a year ago and like others felt it wasn't as bright as advertised and that the booklet and the posted lumens were vastly different. I didn't post a bad review, I contacted the seller. They explained that they shipped the wrong booklet with this model and they sent me back a portion of my money because of the inconvenience and confusion. I appreciated that because I really liked this light anyway. I felt they were fair with me. Since then, I've had occasion to use it and I just love it. It is a cold white light and it doesn't seem as bright as 400 but be aware that the cover over the light is a semi opaque white plastic. It could easily be 400 inside that *waterproof* cover. I was comparing it for brightness with a headlamp that has no waterproofing.This is all before taking it out into a really dark campground and comparing it to the other half a dozen lights we took with it. Headlamps, flashlights, lanterns... we had many items to compare. When we found ourselves in the dark and needed a light to illuminate a sizeable area to get a fire going THIS is the light that helped us the most. By FAR. When my elderly phone kept being exhausted with taking photos and running GPS, I was happy to have the battery backup. If you want ambiance, take an oil lamp. If you want to do construction in the dark, take a work light. If you want something small, durable, waterproof, bright, hang-able, and reliable that will also charge your devices, take this light. If you have to have certainty that you have 400 lumens, buy 7 Luci lights at 15 bucks apiece ($105) and you will have most of the things on that list, but they won't charge your phone too .

Great light, the only reason I give 3 stars it's because it's false advertising and I don't know what to believe. My light said is 460 lumens in high setting when and my paper said 196 lumens in hight setting. Now you see the difference!!!! It's almost 200 lumens of difference!!!!

After reading the previous reviews I purchased three of these, to split between camping and home/emergency use in a power outage. They work really well and are very bright. I compared it with a similarly priced Coleman lantern rated at 550 lumens, and this device (although improperly advertised at 440 lumens) is actually brighter than the Coleman version, about 3 times smaller, and takes 1/6th the time to fully charge the internal battery (the Coleman advertises 12 hours to fully charge and provides no data on the mAH rating). In all regards it's the best combination of brightness, portability, and battery storage for its price point. Highly recommended.

The only reason why I purchased this led lamp was because of the advertised claim that the lumen output was 440. When I read the literature that came with lamp the maximum lumen output is 196. Over 50 % lower than the claimed lumens by msnufacturer. I already have a suboos rechargeable led that puts out 280 lumens. Big disappointment from Superway. The only positive point is claimed 10400mah battery. If it is actually 10400 mah. Buyers beware if they are expecting a high lumen lamp. Boo on amazon

It's so tiny! But don't be mistaken, there is a lot of light here. We bought this to keep constantly charged and used in the event of a power outage. To date, we've had to use it only once for that purpose, but it was an absolute lifesaver. Easily lighting up our room, the light didn't even flicker for the 2 hours we had no power. With the ability to also charge devices in addition to lighting, this gives me a very well-rounded product that can sustain those down times we have. It's smaller size means that I can store it just about anywhere, and use it for portable lighting when we have movie nights at the park.This was really a fantastic buy for our family, especially for the price.

Love it!I am able to hand this to my son and let him leave it on all night as a night light while camping and still have it capable of charging a phone in the morning. For my needs having a huge battery like that is great and the capability to set it on the picnic table and let it charge devices and added bonus. It puts out enough juice that my device considers it in rapid charge mode which is good.The only negative I have is the light that is admitted is a very harsh light like trying to look directly at the Sun even on low. For a flashlight that is good but for a lantern it won't illuminate very far and yet is a hard light to use as a lantern. When I hung it above me it did a great job but not just setting it on the table.

Great product.. False information.. says Max Lumens is 440.. but the information in the packet says 196 lumens.. upset!!

This is an excellent lantern and I recommend it to anyone. It would be 5 star except that the figures for life time at various brightnesses are exaggerated. I have made multiple measurements and get0 'just' 22 hours to half light output at full brightness instead of the claimed 28 hours. 22 hours is still over two nights of camping and if it is used for a few hours a night it could last nearly a week. All in all an excellent product.Ed Phillips
