Amending my earlier reply: it uses a standard fiber optic bulb. LEF lights are an aftermarket option. Just needs the appropriate base and voltage rating.

Really like this...

I am a nurse and I had to take the hearing conservative class in order to do hearing exams... And I have to take this class every 5 years... After this class I decided to buy my own otoscope because I believed It would come in handy...Also my family would always want me to look in their ears when it bothered them... So instead of always needing to take him to the dr. to look in their ears I decided it would be best to have one on hand.. Well I can say that I love how easy this one is and the fact that it comes with different size specs was really good... I love the pouch that it comes with to keep everything nice and neat and all in one place for when I need it... The light is nice and bright and I can see very clearly... And it is great quality for a very reasonable price... I wish i would have bought this way back when I was in nursing school...
