The way we used to eat
The UD2 worked for me. The diet helped me drop from 11 to 8 % body fat, which was my goal. The UD2 was not difficult for me mainly because after years of weight lifting and trial and error dieting I had come up with similar conclusions as the UD2.I didn't know why my diet worked or the science behind it. So when I first read UD2, I thought this will only be a slight modification to what I've been doing. The main changes were his work out routine, I am not a big fan of his routines but they were helpful if followed. I just had to get past the idea that his workouts are geared to make the diet work, not a program to suit my specific weight lifting goals.

This book is the bible of advanced bodybuilding diets.
I am a national-level heavyweight female bodybuilder, and my recent top-5 placings in national contests are entirely due to following this book's diet and supplement routine to the letter. It works just as well for my clients, whether they are getting ready to compete or just want to get in seriously good shape. The author is the most state-of-the art thinker on nutrition science out there. This book is way ahead of it's time - probably won't be fully appreciated for another fifty years. It is NOT just another rehash of low-carb dieting. Most important book in your library if you are a competitive bodybuilder.

Of interest only to fit athletes
This slim volume describes an extreme diet aimed at preventing muscle loss while losing weight rapidly, i.e, athletes taking off a few pounds of fat before a competition. The author says that it is useful only to men and women who already have a low percent body fat. The diet is supported only by anecdotal evidence. I gave it two stars for a lot of detailed metabolic infomation, apparently well researched.

Excellent, Not for everyone.
This diet is intended for people that are at 15% bodyfat or below. If you're not 15% or below...then only buy this book if you're simply curious. If you ARE 15% or below then this diet is a great resource to get even leaner while maintaining or gaining muscle. The first thing that I'd like to point out is that every reviewer that has tried this diet gave it at least 4 stars. If you don't try it then you have no right to review it. I finished my 4th week with a steady loss of 1.5lbs a week and a drop of 3% BF while strength and levels have increased. The plan is laid out in an easy to follow manner. You count calories and macros while cycling both. He tells you when and how to workout (and when not to). Everything that you need to know is strait forward and black and white. "Do this" and if you do then you suceed. Don't, and you don't. It really is that simple.Due to the cycling this is the first "diet" that I've ever stuck to for an extended period of time. Days of hard dieting are soon to be followed with a break. That goes a long way to maintaining willpower. It's also the first time that my numbers in the gym have steadily improved even though the scale was dropping. It's a fantastic resource that holds the highest recommendation for the people that qualify for it.

The Bottom Line -- Lose Fat
I have been overweight almost my entire life and have tried ALL the diets and exercise programs out there. I am very much into educating myself and being in the "know" as much as possible.I am a 34 yo male, 5'8" and used to be 235 pounds, 35% fat, and looked nine months pregnant (no exaggeration). I am now a healthy 180 pounds and approximately 19% fat. My goal is 8% fat.The information in this book is nothing less than fantastic. It simply works. As I said before, on other diets and programs, I have lost fat, but I have never kept it off nor have I been this "lean" before. Although this book contains tons of great information and is easy to read, I think the most important piece of info for me that was a BREAKTHROUGH was Lyle's work on leptin and refeed. This information alone is easily worth the price of the book and then some. The reason I think so is because, as anyone who diets and exercises knows, there is usually a point in your "program" that you hit a plateau. This book will definitely break you through that plateau and keep your fat loss going until you decide to stop.I hit a plateau at 195 pounds using a typical balanced diet and exercise routine. No matter what I did, my body refused to lose fat. And interestingly enough, 195 pounds is the lowest I have ever been my entire life. It's as if my body memorized it or something. But once I incorporated the UD2.0 diet and exercise, I broke through the plateau, lost 2 pounds of pure fat in the first week (I use several fat measuring methods so I know it was fat and not muscle or water: caliper, tape measure, and tanita fat scale). I have since lost 15 pounds of fat and am consistently dropping between 1.5 to 2 pounds of fat per week! Also, I am personally doing this without cardio--just weights (although you can do cardio too on the diet). And I get to REGULARLY pig out and eat junk food too! Yes, you read right. How can you do this? (read the book). So it's great psychologically and I know I'll be able to maintain this "diet" the rest of my life because it doesn't make you deny yourself the foods you enjoy--not like other diets. You still have to practice restraint, moderation, and consistency, but you have to do that with any diet. And it is WORK, but tell me what SUCCESSFUL exercise program doesn't make you work? Anyone who has lost weight and kept it off knows there is no magic pill, no secret "something". Diet and exercise is unavoidable. But which one?If you're like me and you've tried them all and are still looking......the UD2.0 diet works. Period. And if you're still doubtful or want more info, check out the forum on the website [...] I know, I know, you're thinking this is some sales pitch or something. That's what I think all the time too. So I avoid all the advertising crap and go right to the forum boards and read up on what the real, uncensored, unpaid people (who are using the program/product/whatever) are saying.
