The Hidden Children: The Lost Grimoire

High Fantasy and Highly engaging
Phew !! Talk about a book that truly demands your time and effort. I would rather keep this book as a high fantasy read reaped in pure indian soil which is the reason why i loved the book more. The book is voluminous and the number of layers to the book would make your head go spinning. But eventually you have something exciting to engage yourself. After i finished the book, it was like coming out from the cupboard after having fought a war in narnia. The Hidden children started out as a simple book with fun little characters in their high school life dealing with all the high school drama but then the plot went on to thicken and thicken so much that after a point the book was miles away from what it had started out as. The book has multiple layers to it added with characters that have their own strength and sub plots. You can’t pick the book considering it to be a simple and quick read because the intricacies woven into the plot will keep you hooked to the book for a really long time. One of the things i loved about the book is that it is very indian in its plot . And not the kind of indian , you usually see in the book, trying to be a counterpart to the international fantasy novels. The indian aspects and elements actually made sense and even helped to shape the plot better. I loved the whole indianess of the book. Probably the best thing about the book for me.You really have to appreciate the way the author had taken care to weave each and every single thread of the plot. Its like you tug on one single thread and it leads you to even more deeper aspects of the plot. It is simply marvellous to have that kind of acute and sharp plot conceiving and structuring. The book keeps you in a very interesting path and maze throughout and it definitely makes it worthwhile picking the bookMy advise is not to pick this book thinking that you can wrap up the book quickly. Another advise is not to run from the book seeing the volume of the book. Trust me , it is worth picking up as the plot has a depth that is usually lacking in fantasy novels. I had fun. Hope you would also have the same.

A horror, thriller, adventure and fantasy novel jam-packed in one!
"The only thing worse than being ordinary is to be mediocre; to live in the grey periphery of life, looking in, wondering what could have been if you had just stretched yourself to find greatness."For the longest time, I assumed that the name of the book is The Hidden Children, until I saw that tiny "Book One" written at the bottom of the cover. And now I am confused if it's that or The Lost Grimoire. The latter seems like a more possible name considering how the book is about The hidden children and this particular one is about the lost grimoire. So I'll stick to that, until the author tells me that it's wrong. (laughs nervously)The Lost Grimoire is the story of Shui and how her life finally makes sense with the appearance of Anya. (Or does it fall apart, really?) Shui is unlike any other teenager in her class. She is tall and lanky. She has dyslexia and cannot read properly. She has incidents that are probably due to her dyslexia, though. She is not easily liked by anyone in her class, except Nallini and Jai—her two best friends. However, when Anya arrives, things change drastically. Not only is Shui now the best friend of one of the most popular girls of the class, Malvika but even Malvika's ex and Shui's biggest crush ever, Adayant interested in being her friend. And all this is possible only because of Anya. But Nallini doesn't trust her. Is that jealousy or is there something really wrong with Anya? Shui doesn't know, and she probably doesn't care because more than anything else that has happened ever since Anya's arrival, it is the new ability she now has. She has access to magic—real magic. Not the kind that you do with wands, but the kind that you do with mind and concentration. Of course, Nallini and Jai don't know a thing about that. One of the best things about this book was its easy writing style. This book is about Indian teenagers and so, the style was exactly like how Indian teens speak. It was nice reading about children for a change. Other than that, of course, the magic really took me in. This book is a treat for Potterheads all over the globe, but especially in India. There were a few incidents though where I noticed a few grammatical errors, or rather a few editing errors. Nothing that cannot be worked over with one more read. For example, there was a line that read "Satish left quite us optimistic about Mom's recovery..." Get it? The error, I mean?Other than that, the plot of the book was fabulous. I won't tell you who and what hidden children are. There is too much history and too much excitement there and I don't want to ruin the book for you. If you are a fantasy fan, then you might really enjoy this one. I admit that I found the first 100 pages a little too boring. They were sort of creating a dynamic about Shui's life and her dyslexia and how important Nallini and Jai are to her and then how Anya's introduction affects the three of them together. However, once the first 100 pages are over, the book really picks up and I have to say, it took my breath away. I mostly read during the night and there were instances in the middle and toward the end when I was legit scared as to what might happen next. I'm really not exaggerating that during the last 80 pages, a chill ran down my spine TWICE! It was that amazing! So if you are in any case planning to DNF the book based on the first fifty pages, DON'T. Things will get better and then amazing soon enough! All in all, The Hidden Children: The Lost Grimoire is a complete adventure, thriller, fantasy and horror packed novel jam-packed in one! You just have to try it out!

Interesting
The Hidden Children : The Lost Grimoire is a magical book by Reshma K Barshikar full of fantasy and adventure.Shayamukthy moves from the US to India, to a new school, a new culture. But something isn't right anymore and it begins when a New Girl joins the school. She pulls Shui into a world of magic and wonderment, a world she has been hidden from all her life. What starts as a quest to look for a lost book, hurtles Shui into a world where people live in trees, talk to the dead and speak to butterflies. A perilously fun and treacherous magical quest ensues. Shui is enthralled as well as bewildered. There are many things woven into fabric of this amazing book. The way author describes everything is superb and will certainly make you appreciate those around you. As the story unfolds you will be dazzled by the incredible world building on offer. You're really immersed in the magical world and gripped by not only great storytelling, real passion as well. The characters are excellent and I really liked them.It really is a wonderful book, people of all ages will enjoy this one!

Fight for Grimoire
This book is the story of shayamukhi/Shui.Who has some magical power but she doesn't know. Then there's the entry of Anya who tells Shui that she has some magic. The story starts here and anya tells Shui that she requires her Grimoire which has been stolen or misplaced. Its a slow paced book but a good book. Overall I would say a good Goodreads...
