Nice timer and dimmer.
Nice little timer/dimmer. Little confusing to program but once you have it set it works pretty good. Doesn’t make sense that it will hold your program settings on the event of a power failure but it doesn’t hold the time. Not a big deal but it would be nice to have it come up without having to reset the time. Great price for th features.

Works was advertised.
Great little timer! The directions took several reads before I completely understood how to set it up but once I figured them out, it was easy to do. I do wish the cord that attaches to the light itself was longer. It basically hangs off the back of my aquarium. for those of you interested, the timer does work with BeamsWorks lights! I read through a ton of questions posed to both MingDak and BeamsWorks and neither company was willing to admit the were compatible. Most probably because they want you to buy their product not a third party product. I took a chance because MingDaks timer allows ramping up and down. Great over all product.

Works well, programmable light levels.
This item performs better than others I have tried. The trade off is that it has to be programmed and takes some trial and error to get it programmed the way you want.Warning!!! Make sure your LED's are dimmable!I set mine to give 5% light at 6am,35% light at 7am,100% light at 8am,Then...35% light at 4pm,5% light at 5pm,Off at 6pm.I like that it ramps the light intensity up and down with each interval of change.I ordered two more of them.Fortunately, the program does not have to be reset after power outages. Unfortunately, the current time DOES have to be reset when power goes out. However, the current time is easy to reset.

complicated to set, does not perform well
Very difficult to set. Directions are complex and not very helpful. Timer exits "setup" mode after five seconds, which, combined with the complex setup procedure, makes setup long and complicated. .The timer worker for a brief period after initial setup. But even so, the "time of day" gained about 4 minutes per day. Then I changed the times, and it stopped working. Directions were no help at all. E-mail to company produced no response. Finally got it partially working, but it appears to be broken: it will turn on but won't turn off at the set "off" time. I purchased a different brand, and found setup took about 30 seconds, and it works very well.

Updated my rating from 1 to 3 stars
After using the controller for a week or so, I’ve updated my rating from 1 to 3 stars. While I still believe this controller is overly complicated to program, once I set up my levels, I’ve been happy with how the controller has performed. It’s important to note that when making updates, the controller will ignore the programmed parameters until the next cycle takes place. So for example if I’ve made any updates to the controller at 11:00 AM and I’ve had the light programmed to go on at 10:00 AM at 50% intensity until 2:00 PM at 70% intensity, because I made the updates mid - cycle the light will instead go on at 100% intensity until 2:00 where it will dim to 70%, and then be on a normal schedule. Hopefully that’s a clear enough guide for someone programming for the first time.Prior review:I found interacting with my Ming Dak timer was frustrating. Issues I had included:* a primitive interface* poorly written instructions* programming the timer was needlessly complicated* If I was programing between time levels, light brightness couldn’t be adjusted until attaining next level. That included lights turning off (LOFF) - in my case meaning that meant I couldn’t shut the tank lights off via the timer until the following morning when the next cycle level began. In other words for the entire night! My advice is don’t waste your money on this product.

The natural lighting cycle is helping my plants and fishes a lot
It's a good little timer. Never had the ramp up/down before this. Great functionality, read the instructions carefully and adjusting it is no problem. The only thing is you need to set the time again if there's a power outage (obviously). Would buy again and again for each aquarium. Wonderful aesthetic and natural lighting cycle.

Works well.
It's a good buy. Programming was a bit awkward, but considering it has only 4 buttons it wasn't too bad.One thing to note though, since this is just a controller and it does not have an internal battery, every time power goes out, you'll need to reset the time. It remembers the programming though, so that's good. Since I already use a smart switch to control power to my light, I just programmed this to ramp up the light at 00:01, so everyday when the smart switch turns on, it'll ramp up the light. Even if the power goes out, I can always control my smart switch from my phone.

Great product....
Works great, timer is excellent and very easy to program. I love no more turning the light on and off for my tank, if happens automatically. The light brightness setting is perfect and just what my tank needed...

It Keeps Time
Unlike the last timer I bought, which lost about an hour a week, this one has been keeping the right time..YAY!! It doesn't have as many steps as my last one which had 8, this one has 5, but the fact that it keeps time makes it a worth while purchase.
