Considerably more robust than competitors. This is primarily metal, others are plastic. Love the fact that it is plug in and NOT solar or battery powered. Previous two solar powered units were complete failures due to limited hours of direct sun exposure through the trees. Very robust actuator & drive road assembly. Seemed easy to assemble and install, pretty clear written instructions are provided although they also provide quick set up pics/instructions, that imo, leave out too much info. I’ll update if it changes to anything other than what I’ve experienced so far. Operates well, safety mech works great so no one will get trapped in door, but honestly it moves so slowly the bird would have to try to get themselves stuck. It is very quiet and opens nice and slow so won’t startle or scare birds. The controller is in a nicely assembled weather proof outdoor box that will protect the electronics nicely.

Purchased the JVR- HM40G automatic chicken coop door. Looks proffessional. Hubby installed it without any issues. I was able to program the timer without issues. operation of the door opening and closing is perfect, smooth ,quiet. Sent question to support and received a quick reply about the anti pinch sensor, it is actually built in and works great,no additional wires .I tested the door closing with a full 16oz water bottle laying on its side within the doorway and the door worked perfectly and retreated back up quickly and gently. Highly recommend your purchase.

I’ve had my door since Aug 2021. It’s been extremely reliable and has made my routine with my chickens so much smoother. This year in 2025/2026 we had a very extremely cold winter. I had a slight issue from the cold snap. I had emailed the team at JVR. They provided excellent support and troubleshooting. Our issue was shortly resolved. After 5 years from purchase it’s still the best product on our coop. I prefer this over other doors I came across in my research because of the sense of control I had with setting my own timer for opening & closing. I love that the sensory also provides safety precautions as well.

Works good, my first timer did not work consistently but good customer service, they sent me a new timer and now I have no problems. Easy to install, easy to set timer, I found that you may need to hit reset and start fresh as neither timer worked correctly to start with, I actually had to hit reset twice on my new timer and do a trial run by setting timer to open (on) on minute 1 and close (off) on minute 2, that did not work the first time so I hit reset again then it worked fine, I do not know how some people had a tough time setting timer it is very easy and instructions are pretty clear. The only issue is the door is a little flimsy because of being 2 pieces but it is plenty strong also the cutt out for door should be a least an inch smaller in height than the instructions tell you, I made it about 3/4” less and still have a small gap at top when door is closed and small overlap on bottom, will probably put some type weather stripping before winter to close gaps. Overall it is a great convenience having the door open and close automatically, it opens slowly and my birds fight to be the first out squeezing through a small opening, I like that it closes slowly so birds don’t get caught under.

Installing the door was really easy. After taking the time to read the instructions, the control unit was easy to program. The unit is well built and should last a long time. With just the way it is built I would recommend it. A plus is that parts can be replaced if they go bad. I’ve had two other brands that did not last a year and no support and no repair parts.

BAD Customer service! Bought and installed the opener…it wouldn’t work. Clock/timer never came on. Contacted customer service. I did all the things they suggested. Was ask to take the clock/timer apart and make a video of what happened when plugged in. The wires were not connected…explains why it wouldn’t work. The wires are too short to connect to the brackets. I get a email to pay the shipping of $22.00 to get a new clock/timer. So much for a 1 year warranty! There was no hardware in the box to install the opener. I used hardware from the one I was replacing. Couldn’t submit without marking a star…needs to be 0

OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERIVCE!!! door stopped working after almost 4 years. Even though product was out of warranty JVR helped me find the correct AC adapter to make the unit work. (Less than $8 on Amazon) Works perfectly now! Very nice, polite and knowledgable staff. I would definately purchase from JVR again. Door opener was originally purchased in 2022.

As a craftsman I appreciate the products features and design quality. After reading some other reviews I decided to make the overall height 11 inches which allows better safety and coverage from any possible predators. I was able to install the entire unit on the inside for better protection from the weather. Instructions were easy to follow and I used the online video for setting up timer
