Spectacular graphic interpretation of Joe Abercrombies work. I really recommend picking this up if you can.

Seeing The First Law come to life in graphic novel interpretation here was incredible. Every page, every scene was well drawn, well colored. Reading graphic novelized versions of books you've read is always eye opening. The first scene with Logan and the Shanka was my first surprise. Admittedly I had the Shanka looking a bit more 'shaggy' in my head, & less dread-locked as they're depicted here. On the flip side, seeing Glokta "go to work" in color like this was as wicked as I could have imagined. If you enjoyed Joe Abercrombie's "The First Law" novels I can't imagine you won't like this. My only disappointment was the discontinuation of this project. I was looking forward to further graphic novels. After reading the samples chapters of Mr. Abercrombie's "Half a King" I was not impressed and sad to know that he would not be coming back to these world/characters anytime soon.

Great addition to your Joe Abercrombie Library
Great addition to my Joe Abercrombie library. It follows the plot of the novel by the same name. If you enjoyed the novel, you may or may not like this - same issue as going to a movie after you read the book. The characters don't look like you envisioned them for so long. It is tough to get over. For me, it wasn't an issue after getting over the initial shock. The book is true to the novel - just another person's interpretation is all. I thoroughly enjoyed the graphic novel - it is a quick read with great artwork, slick pages, and high production qualities.

If you are a fan of the books - this is a great retelling of the story you are familiar with. Wonderfully drawn and colored - quality all around. If you haven't read the books, do yourself a favor and read them. If you don't read books or don't plan on reading the series - this is still a great graphic novel on it's own. Highly recommended.

The books are some of my favorite so when I heard a graphic novel was coming out I was so excited! The art is fantastic. Glokta looks nothing like I imagined but it makes perfect sense. He was an athletic and handsome man before he was tortured and maimed. I really hope he keeps making these into graphic novels.

I wish there was more. One of my favorite stories in a graphic novel? Heck yes! And it was well done too! This is most likely only for someone already familiar with 'The First Law' trilogy and other tales by Joe Abercrombie. And if you haven't been reading his work, why not?!?!?!?
