No issues with the bottle which is always a good thing. The expiration date is well in advance and I am sure it will all be used up by then. These are great in sugar cookies and if you add a dab of sour cream in the mix, it's a great taste and a smooth soft cookie plus, the cookie was fuller than the normal flat cookies that usually come out. I use California lemon peel as an ingredient for my family’s favorite steak seasoning so we go through it pretty fast. However, it is hard to find, only one store in my area carries it but for some reason it’s very expensive. I’m grateful I can find the same exact lemon peel that I use at a reasonable price. Fast shipping too.

I like to make blueberry and lemon pancakes using lemon zest. I thought this would work great as I wouldn't need a fresh lemon every time I wanted to make these.Well, even after adding to the water and warming it up in the microwave before using, it still doesn't have that full, rich lemon flavor that fresh lemon zest does.Perhaps I'm being overly picky but to me there's a distinct difference between this and fresh zest.So, in my case, I'd recommend sticking with fresh lemon if you can.Edit: Some fun pointers - You can freeze zest! Not only that, but orange zest works just as well with blueberry pancakes too. Zest a few teaspoons worth of zest and freeze in a small freezer proof container. Drop a bit as needed in some warm water (if being used in your recipe) and everything's like normal.

Bought better to have on hand than trying to make it on your own in a pinch

Can't find lemon peel in your favorite store? Go to Amazon! I have been able to find many McCormick seasonings for a long time. I haven't been able to find lemon peel for several months. Finding McCormick lemon peel is wonderful. It has a good smell, taste and texture. It will be a good lemon addition in my recipes.

When I opened the jar and smelled the contents, the “ lemon zest” had a chemical smell. No lemon or citrus at all. I thought it may have needed some hydration so I added some to a few drops of water. Nothing. No aroma at all.I then put a few pieces on my tongue. Again, no lemon or even citrus taste. No chemical taste either, just no flavor at all.Don’t waste your money.ADDITION: I have contacted McCormick about this and they responded quickly with questions. They offered to send me an envelope and shipping label so I can send it back. Also have said they will send a gift card to reimburse me. I’ll add to this review later with the result of all this.Addition: McCormick did send me a gift card and a self-addressed, prepaid envelope in which to return the product. I sent it back and have heard nothing further from them. I don’t think they will let me know what they determined had happened. But at least they reimbursed me for it.

This worked well in my recipe. I have been adding it to my home- made spice blends too. Try it with cinnamon sugar (what?!?). Who doesn’t like the smell and taste of lemons. The product color and consistency is nice. It should be very versatile and I plan to use it in more recipes too. Lemon is great for cooking.I couldn’t find this in my local stores, so I am happy with the price online.
