Excellent Condition
The switch arrived in excellent condition. There was some issue with the software, but nothing that couldn't be quickly rectified. Very pleased with the switch. The packaging was first rate. The best packaging I've seen on a refurbished item. The item was shipped and arrived early and in perfect condition.

Great switch, but...
Great switch for a great price, however beware that according to my usual VAR that I use through my place of employment Juniper has stated that these devices purchased from Amazon are not authorized and therefore they will not offer support through JTAC. I found this out when I tried to get my VAR to match the price I found on Amazon.

Amazing Switch and Operating System!
This switch is simply amazing! For the price, you can't find anything that compares. This switch has 28 gigabit ports, does many different VLAN spanning-tree protocols, is fully managed with CLI (web interface is available too, if you must...), does SNMP, syslog, full routing, firewall filters, you name it and it probably does it. The virtual chassis feature is a great addition as well. With virtual-chassis you can have redundant switching without having to pay extra for stacking modules. This switch also has a lifetime warranty and includes lifetime software upgrades. The JUNOS operating system soooo much better than Cisco IOS. I was trained on Cisco gear, and operate 4500X series switches on a daily basis. I would much rather have Juniper in my environment. The operating system is incredible and is much easier to navigate than IOS. The OS makes it very easy to setup an environment with multiple routed VLANs, port/mac-address based security, and QoS. One of my favorite features of the OS is the ability to have "interface-range" groups. Basically, you can define different types of interfaces, for example "Phone", "Access-Point", or "Workstation", and then add the different VLAN, spanning-tree, and security settings to each group. Once you have these defined, you add in the switch-ports as members of these groups, this way they all have the same configuration without having to configure each port. When you want to change a port's configuration, simply put in in a different interface-range.

An obvious choice for small offices needing a mix of PoE and non-PoE
Apart from the reliability, and outstanding JUNOS manageability features, I'm particularly fond of this switch because it supports a full 30 watts of PoE (802.3at) instead of the more typical 15 watts per port (802.3af). I also like that PoE can be disabled on each port if needed (for example to reboot a PoE powered device or to protect against various other potential PoE pitfalls). There are cheaper switches, but this switch represents a very good value all things considered. For small offices with a mix of PoE and non PoE devices (Network clocks, VoIP phones, Wi-Fi access points, PoE PTZ Cameras, Powered switches etc), this is the only switch I buy. The practical downside to this switch when compared to the more expensive 4200 series is its smaller power budget (405w), lack of dedicated virtual chassis stacking ports (repurposes standard switchinig ports), and a non-zero recovery time (a few seconds) if the backup routing engine is promoted to master. All in all, it's an obvious choice for its role. I wish I'd discovered Juniper and JunOS earlier in my career.

Great switch with a lot of options
Great switch with a lot of options. I use the power over ethernet for security cameras and it does the trick.
