Always a go to
Bought for myself some time ago, and since purchased 2 more as gifts (gift recipients echo the following). They're great in regards to look, feel, satisfying click and have a nice flow when writing, jotting, doodling. Overall, very tactile and enjoyable to use

A grower, with some reservations.
I have been a long-term user and admirer of rotring products since my student days and bought this as I liked the aesthetic of it and it was on offer. The matte black finish appealed. It has a good weight and presence (for want of a better word) in use, and the supplied rotring cartridge is very good. The body is brass and quite thin, which may not be to everybody's liking; it took me a while to really warm to it as I am used to a fatter barrel. The brass either adds to the pen's charm or detracts from it, as it soon begins to glimmer through the matte black finish where the pen is gripped. From my perspective it is disappointing, as Rotring must be aware of this cosmetic issue with the durability of the matte black finish in production and product testing and have not addressed it. In premium products such things matter.Would I replace it if I were to lose it with the same again? Probably, as it is a good writing implement. The resilience of the black finish does however leave something to be desired.

I really Like this Pen
I really like this Pen. It's weighty but not too much so, there feels like there is a nice balance to it. I like that it is angled like an old school HB Pencil and that the place where you hold it is "textured" so that you have a nice grip on it. It feels fairly narrow compared to the Parker I was using before but I got used to it very quickly and massively prefer this over that one. It's shape means that it won't roll off the table or anything and it's Black coating with Red accents and writing is cool. It's got a real 80's A-Team vibe to it.The construction is metal for the most part. I THINK the plunger is plastic however but I can't be sure. None of the paint has come off of this yet and I know people that have had them a long time and they still look like new. Even when they do wear what you will get is the metal coming through the paint giving you an awesome patina to remind you how long you have spent with the pen. I can't be sure but I think these pens used to be made of brass which this one definitely isn't, maybe the higher end model is?The pen writes nicely for sure which is down to the included nib and ink stuff but I am very happy with it. Not sure what I will change it to when this runs out but I am sure there are many option.Overall I am really happy with this pen. I bought it when it was on discount for £20 and I am not sure I would pay full price but then that's down to me being tight with money rather than value for money. I am very tempted to build a set of these with different colours but that's probably stupid however it does show how much I like them.

Endless writing sessions
This is heavy for a ballpoint, but so well balanced that you don't notice when writing with it. The knurled grip stops your fingers from sliding, which is an issue with the otherwise brilliant Parker Jotter, especially the metal-bodied versions. It takes a G2 iso refill, the same as a Parker Jotter so widely available. The Rotring refill included is great quality, a deep, solid black and butter smooth. Little if any movement from the point - a very precise writer. Two possible issues: the spring isn't fixed inside the tip so use care when reloading, (though refills with springs are available online should you lose it); and being knurled brass it could easily scratch other pens if stored with them.Expensive, but I'm glad I bought it.

Lovely design, lightweight, comfortable and durable
I'm coming back to ballpoint after using tech drawing pens almost exclusively for the last 20 years - I wanted something which is more durable and doesn't require me to throw away lots of plastic. I've also switched to "stone paper", which offers a smoother writing surface but snags the tip of a tech drawing pen. I'm a long term user of Rotring pens - I like their simplicity and durability as well as their "form follows function" aesthetic. This is a designer's pen - you can feel it in everything from the action of the button - the spring is just right to the grip offered by the knurling at the grip section. It's a great tool and offers really good value for money when compared to the price of many similar quality items
