NURSAL White Noise Machine Sound Machine for Sleeping & Relaxation, 10 Natural Sounds, Portable Sleep Therapy for Baby, Home, Office or Travel

This is my second sound machine, and is a smaller version of the other one I own. It has about half as many sounds, but still plenty for what I am going to use it for. I am including a video so the sounds can be heard on your own. Yes, they loop, but then, you're not supposed to focus on the sounds themselves, but let them act as a background white noise to help you relax or sleep. It's powered by two AA batteries or the included USB cable. (You'll need an outlet adapter if you plan on plugging it into a wall outlet.) It has 10 sounds in all and they can be played separately or you can have it automatically cycle through them all for 3 minutes each, and then loop over again. You can set the machine to play for 30, 60, or 120 minutes before turning itself off, or just let it play on until someone turns it off. There are 10 volume levels, and while I would prefer the range be lower altogether, it's not bad. The unit is light, so could be easily carried for traveling. The only lights are a small green indicator light that only comes on if you have selected a timed play. It's not tiny, but it's not large. I can easily hold it in one hand and my hands aren't that big. The sound quality is pretty decent for such a small unit, so no complaints there. Watch my video and judge the sounds for yourself. That would be the best thing to do.

i have ADHD. Working in the office, when coworkers are loud or on the phone, can be very distracting. I tried noise canceling headphones. Those work, but i get ear infections, so i don't want to wear those 8/5. For a while, i used the YouTube video "white noise black screen". Then they blocked YouTube from the sites we could visit. Which i completely understand, i didn't like the idea of using the bandwidth, but i hadn't been able to find a white noise machine on my previous attempts to locate one. Luckily this time, this one had appeared. I was unsure what to expect, because it was new and there hadn't been any reviews yet. But it was inexpensive, and if it worked, i knew it would be so helpful to have at work. I took a chance and decided to risk it. I was only interested in the most basic feature... white noise. So maybe the other sounds were in the product description, but i missed them somehow. This comes with a charging cable. It can run off regular batteries OR it can be charged and you wouldn't need the batteries. Additionally, there is an "auto off" feature with three different time selections, which i think would be really nice for someone who needs it to help getting to sleep. I'm just going to keep this at work and use it at my desk, so i don't think I'll use that feature. But it's definitely something that impressed me. And then the sounds. There are several different sounds that you can choose from. I'll stick with the white noise, but if i were needing something for meditation, some of the other sounds are very cool, and again, if this weren't for the office, i think I'd make use of them. The product is lightweight and simple. It's clean and easy to use if you take the time to look at the little insert that explains the buttons. I'm very happy with this purchase.

What I like: Compact size, easy functionality, variety of sounds (many not on other sound machines), plug in or battery operated, sound preference memory, volume memory. What I dislike: Does not come with the ability to plug in the wall (you must buy another part), a couple of the sounds are light/faint even when turned up, must have nearby as sound does not carry well. Per instructions: I do not have a condition--unless you count the inability to perform my duties due to being annoyed to death. I have irritating neighbors and sensitive, barky dogs. I needed something to distract the animals (and me) so I could work from home, read without being so irritated my blood pressure spiked, and could provide a soothing background for normal daily activities. This works well for those needs. It has smooth looping as I cannot tell when the recorded sound stops/starts. Its' small size means easy transport from one locale to another, it fits well on the corner of a table or arm of a chair, and requires minimal fuss. I did wish it came with a wall plug, but otherwise, I am happy. I have only been using it for about a week, but use it almost every day for several hours. Thus far, I am still on my first set of batteries, so that is good. I am really enjoying the 'wind' sound and 'babbling brook' alternating between depending on activity and noise level needed. Wind works perfectly as 'white noise' to work, babbling brook I like when I am reading or trying to keep the dogs from hearing car doors slamming and people calling back and forth.

Bought this so I could drown out the sounds of my flatmates talking at night. Sound selection is somewhat limited but I'm quite partial to the rainforest and brook. Sound quality is pretty good though. The sounds loop quite frequently but each loop transitions to the next very seamlessly, and I don't really notice. I do wish the sounds were printed somewhere on the machine itself but this is easily remedied: I cut out the list from the manual and glued it to the back of the machine. It remembers which audio track it was playing every time you shut it off, and it'll continue remembering even if there's no power supplied. I like the fact that you can use normal AA batteries with it, which makes it more versatile for travel. It doesn't come with the AC->5V USB converter, but that's fine; they're increasingly integrated into power strips anyways. I do wish it'd get a little quieter on the lowest settings.

Just a cheap noise machine, worked for about a year until the mini USB port quit accepting charge. It does still work with batteries, but goes through them at an impressive speed for use all night (seems like it's in the range of 2-3AA every 1-2 weeks), so I've not chosen not to use it that way. The sounds themselves are fine, nothing super realistic or natural, but several options that aren't annoying and create good background noise for sleep. Probably reasonable for the money, I'd just hoped to use it a bit longer.

I have only had it a few days and used it and can tell you this: I haven't slept this great in a while. I though about getting one for my living room when I fall asleep on the couch. Works great, timer is nice feature, volume just right and compact design it perfect for traveling with cord or batteries. Note: I used the wave sound and had dreams I was on a beach so be forewarned for those who have easily persuaded dream cycles this could influence your state. So far I love this product! I have been using it for about two weeks and my sleep scores have been so much better. My daughter has a noise machine and sleep so soundly that I decided to give one a try. The price was right and the compact travel design fit in with my wants and needs and boy did it deliver! It has legitimately changed the way my boyfriend and I sleep. I'm not a big believer in posting rave reviews but I will on this. Thank you!

We had a sound machine geared towards babies when our son was born. Now that he’s 4 we wanted more “sophisticated” sounds (ocean waves, birds chirping, white noise). I love the timing feature so it automatically turns off. I even use it myself to fall asleep sometimes. Volume gets quite loud, so it’s nice for traveling when a hotel has paper thin walls or your relatives are late night owls. Only downside was that it has a USB plug so we had to find a power adapter plug to hook it up to wall outlet.

I put in brand-new batteries and it wouldn't start. Plugged it in, and it started. Took the plug out, left the batteries in, now it starts, yay! That night I go to bed, turn it on with battery power, set timer for 120 minutes, and it turns off 20 minutes later and refuses to turn back on. Well it's the middle of the night and I need to work in the morning so bugger it, I'll deal with this tomorrow. Next evening, it turns on again with battery power, I set it to NO timer because hey maybe I just messed up with timer settings the night before? And it shuts off at 11 minutes and refuses to come back on again. I'm done. Item returned. Note: it also seemed really really loud no matter how many times I hit the "volume down" button. However, since mine was already defective, i don't know if that was the normal volume settings or just part of the defect.
