Adobe Master Class: Photoshop Inspiring Artwork and Tutorials by Established and Emerging Artists

Useful but a misnomer
The title Master Class is certainly a mis-classification at the very least. While there are some tutorials set with some of the contributor's examples there are just as many that are photographs without any explanation other than possible inspiration for the readers. If you're looking for inspiring photographs I would recommend Miss Aniela's Creative Portrait Photography . Want to improve your Photoshop skills? Check out any of Martin Evening's books. Overall a mildly useful book but there are better publications available.

I bought this thinking it would have some what more show and tell
Im not really in to this type of Mastery Photography. Sure some of the info in this book is great, But not for the Price. This has good information don't miss understand just wasn't for me. The Tile is a little misleading. What I got was alot of master Photographers and Photoshop Masters show you how to real quick this and that and thats it. Im sure some one will get a better use than I did Just wasn't' for me.

Not a masterclass just a photo manipulation portfolio
I expected some good tutorials, I guess I bought it for its cover, name and content misleading, just a bunch of photos and bios, nothing to learn if you are looking to master Adobe photoshop.Buy it if you only want to see a portfolio (which you can do for free on the web)I feel I just waste some bucks.

Photoshopped Art
I thought the tutorials were okay but the art chosen for the book was disappointing. I would have enjoyed it more if there had been more tutorials.

the author just explain about the camera in general, ...
the author just explain about the camera in general, not that kind of explanation that i'm looking for..i hope more detail about every function usable to d90.

Very Good!
Though the printing quality of the cover feels not original, but the most important will always be the content inside, they're great!

Not Much of a Class
I have little doubt that the work of the illustrator Norman Rockwell will still be hanging on the walls of museums 100 years from now. I suspect that the works of surrealistic photographer Jerry Uelsmann will still be looked at in 100 years. I wonder if any of the works of the thirty artists featured in this book will survive that long. Each section of the book features a short portfolio by a single artist, beginning with a small photograph of the artist and what appears to be a typical artist's statement. This is followed by another three pages featuring the works of the artist. Nine of the artists' portfolios are followed by tutorials explaining the Photoshop techniques used by the artist. The photographers' works range from image modifications designed to enhance the look of a photograph that, to the unwarned eye, appear to show no post-processing, to surrealistic visions, like a winged woman flying amidst snow covered peaks that can only be achieved by extensive post processing.I have to confess that, while I admire the technical skills that create, say, a figure in a suit and formal shirt with the head of an alligator, I really don't find such images revealing the artist's vision in any way that communicates anything to me. On the other hand, an image like the suave young man in the white suit that has been altered to emphasize the relationship between the suit and the man's brown skin help to reveal something of the subject's attitude. Yet I am certain that there are people who will enjoy the sight of a dilapidated house floating in an ominous sky amidst birds. Most of the artists' statements sounded a bit grandiose, except for Dean West, who only says that his work is evolving and that he uses photography to bring his visions to life. In a few instances artists must not have submitted acceptable statements so curator Perello has had to provide a brief biography instead. The book says it is for beginner to intermediate. (I suppose the missing word is photographers.) But even the tutorials would require a good knowledge of the use of Photoshop to make sense, so that these portfolios can only serve as a source of inspiration or admiration for a beginner. Some of the tutorials will help intermediate Photoshop users, particularly the tutorials that are more reality based, but those users should keep in mind that often preliminary, intermediate, and finishing steps are not included in the tutorials. For an idea of what it is possible to achieve in Photoshop, this book will be useful. It doesn't contain enough instruction to constitute any kind of master class.

I don't need this book for inspiration!!!
It's too bad the publishers decided to make available the part that corresponds to Jaclyn Corrado as a sample content. To me her images show absolutely nothing I can't do even before reading or purchasing even the "low cost" version of this book. "Cut & paste" anyone? A little fiddling with layer opacity, anyone?" I mean, these images are so silly and simplistic! "I am never looking to create the `perfect image.' I enjoy producing pieces that appear destructed and manipulated." I still don't know how her work can be called "a master class". Pompous!I am glad I had a chance to see the sample content. Now I know I won't be purchasing this book. (I mean, if you are trying to sell something, you show the best part of it, don't you?)Let me point you to another, really inspiring and technically complete book about Photoshop: "The Photoshop CS3/CS4 WOW! book" Do you want to learn Photoshop and be inspired to work with it? Get this book!

Inspirierende Ideen
