It has been my media center for a few months and it is solid as a rock with Win 8.1, iTunes, Twitch and Netflix. Not really fast enough to play games but more than enough for browsing and playing media, and completely silent (which is crucial for a media center).Only problems:Occasionally loses the audio on my TV (have disable/enable the audio controller to recover).Occasional power up issues.

Der Nuc mit dem 3rd gen i5 hat meinen bisherigen PC ersetzt. Die CPU-Leistung liegt im Bereich des erwartbaren, für Office, Surfen, Gucken und Musik völlig ausreichend, Spiele natürlich nicht. Vorteil ist natürlich der kleine Baufaktor, daneben erscheint ein Mac Mini riesig. Könnte mehr USB-Ports haben, aber das wurde mit einem passiven Hub für Keyboard, Maus und Headset gelöst.Wer WLAN/Bluetooth einbaut kann natürlich vieles über Bluetooth erschlagen, das ist wohl Geschmackssache.Bei mir mit 16 GiB RAM, Samsung 840 Evo 500 GiB und WLAN/Bluetooth von Intel ein sehr performanter Desktop-Ersatz. Durch die zwei Displayports und den einen HDMI-Port bis zu drei Monitor an einer Box dieser Größe ist schon gut. Audio geht durch DisplayPort oder HDMI raus (wenn's der Monitor denn kann, ich war SEHR überrascht, als auf einmal Töne aus meinem Monitor kamen). Ansonsten halt Sound über USB raus.Vorne ist ein USB 3.0, der ziemlich robust ausgeführt ist und auch USB 3.0 gut liefert.Der NUC ist nicht vollständig still, wenn mal was passiert im Rechner, springt der Lüfter hörbar an. Sollte man nach Einsatzzweck schön berücksichtigen, kann störend sein.

I bought this NUC bare bones kit with the intention of removing the motherboard from the case and installing it in a fanless case since the fans on these small NUCs do tend to be a bit whiny when stressed. The case I bought elsewhere, but it was relatively straightforward to extract the board from the stock Intel case after a quick web/Youtube search for others doing the same thing. The end result is a thing of beauty - a completely silent i5 PC with 8GB of RAM and 250GB SSD running Windows 7, attached to the back of a monitor using the VESA mountings. Knocked a star off for two reasons: 1) it would be much more satisfactory if Intel themselves offered a fanless version of their NUC barebones systems and 2) given Intel don't currently offer a fanless NUC the price of the motherboard-only version of this product is much too high; it should be substantially lower that the full encased version.

using this as a small, quiet & low power Plex server with a 120gb SSB & 4gb of RAM. (replaced a larger & noisier HP Microserver).Built in vPro is a great addition to allow out-band management if required.
