986 987 996 997 gas Fuel Cap and Clip GENUINE oem pertrol tank filler cover

Alright, I was going to rate this lower at first as I had issue with not receiving the clip. The part I received was a genuine OEM cap. Marked package, fits the same, and looks the same. I replaced mine because the strap part broke on my old one.Now about the clip it seems to be hit or miss. I checked the box,bag and lid of the cap and it wasn't there. I then contacted the seller and they were quick turn around sent out a clip standard mail and I received it. I didn't want to return and just try my luck with another order. I really appreciated them coming through.

I replaced the gas cap on a 2007 Boxster base. It came with the tether clip. It's a bit tricky, but if you use a small punch and a hammer, the old clip comes out in about 1 second. Inserting the new one is also quick, just squeeze the 3 prongs together as you insert it. Once it's in, lightly hammer the pin until it's flush with the top.

I needed a replacement fuel cap for my Porsche 987, as the tether had broken and I was afraid I'd lose the cap during a fuel stop. Purchased this one and can verify that it is the OEM cap (same supplier, etc.). The plastic bag that it comes in doesn't say 'Porsche', but the name on the cap, as well as the part number molded into it is the same as OEM. Despite some of the previous reviews and questions, it comes with the pin to hold the tether to the body. One of the least expensive Porsche parts you'll every purchase, and its top quality.

The only difficulty was to push the pin to keep the cord fitted to the holder. This is 100% stuck.

Perfect oem replacement for my 997.2. My old retention strap snapped and I got this new unit. I just wrestled the old retention cord attachment out with a pair of pliers and pressed this new one in place. 2 minute job

1. push the center pin of the existing tether through the outer pin part (mine slid down the fueler drain pipe and wound up on the garage floor -- you could block the drainage hole first if you're concerned about the pin getting stuck somewhere)2. remove the old outer pin part -- it's no longer locked by the pin so it'll just pull out3. insert the new pin through the new tether and mounting hole4. when fully seated, push the center pin in until it's flush with the outer part to lock in the new tether5. hopefully you didn't just install the wrong cap version!
