Bersuse 100% Cotton Laodicea Turkish Towel - 37x70 Inches, Silver Grey

I just got this towel yesterday, opened up the plastic wrap it came in at the pool I work at, and discovered it has a strong perfume fragrance. Really really strong. Due to the pandemic, we are all wearing face masks... and this was outside... Powerful scent. Initially, I didn't hate the smell, but it is strong and I quickly got tired of it. This towel spent my seven hour work yesterday shift airing outside. Still perfumy. I did not expect a perfumed towel from this towel's item description. The tie-dye Bersuse towel I also purchased is blessedly unscented.I took the towel home, handwashed it with dish soap (my usual towel routine currently), still extremely fragrant! I think the scent got stronger when the towel was wet. Or I got more sick of it. No, I think it was stronger. Anyway, I then soaked it for 30 minutes in a vinegar & water solution. Then when I couldn't stand to smell it anymore I wrung out the towel and tossed it into my car (I live in a tiny place, so stashing it in my car seemed reasonable last night). This morning when I got in my car I heartily cursed last night's foolishness. The towel still reeked of perfume (so did my car). So it went back to work with me and I finally hung it up inside the guard room. Due to Covid-19 workplace rules we are not spending time inside the guard room (so nobody cares what it smells like). I am planning to let ot hang at work for a while. If it continues to smell like perfume I will return it, which would be a pity because other than the scent I like it.I got this towel on sale, at a good discount. Aside from the fragrance thing it has a couple of oddities which makes me feel unsure if it truly represents the normal Bersuse offering. One of its tasseled sides is finished with a close woven pattern, the other side is diamond pattern right into the tassels (one of my photos shows this). The size is different than described (when I double-checked there were two different sets of dimensions on the item description, mine matches neither of them), the towel I received is 36"x73" as I measure it (exact measurements are not always my forte). I have a similar diamond weave towel from a different company, this one is similar in width, but a bit longer. I posted photos of its size next to the Bersuse tie-dye towel I bought at the same time as this one. For me this is a "hey bonus extra towel!" However if you are trying to mix and match towels you might be disappointed by the extra length.Overall (if I can fix the fragrance problem), I like this towel, it is very pretty. I would like it a lot less if I had paid full price for it. Given the hassle of trying to defragrance it plus its possibly durability limiting unfinished weaving on the one side I'm not planning on buying a second one.Honestly, I haven't had it long enough to give it a fair evaluation as a towel, especially since a Turkish towel needs extra time to break in. I wanted to review it now because I feel strongly that people need to be warned about the perfume. Or enticed by the description of its lingering persistent fragrance. Good quality and edges are all nicely finished. My family loves these. Wraps around very well. Pretty. Thinner as they are supposed to be, but these are thick for Turkish towels. Good quality. Suitable for luxury uses. Dry you off quickly. Very happy with them.

Absorbent enough to dry off effectively after a shower, but the towel itself dries much faster than thicker terry towels - a big plus to prevent mildew smell in humid climates.

I bought two of these towels last year and they are absolutely my most favorite towels. I thought I would treat myself and buy four more. These are thin and “slick” not the thick absorbent cotton of the last two I purchased. So disappointed!!

These are the nicest Pestemal towels I've found on Amazon. I ordered 6 of the Laodicea Natural towels and 6 of the Hieropolis Burgundy towels, and I am quite pleased with the quality. They are surprisingly absorbent, dry quickly, pack remarkably well, feel soft, and look amazing. There was a slight hiccup in shipping, but Bersuse took care of it right away. I highly recommend.

I have been hearing about Turkish towels for many years and always thought they were way to thin to actually dry. Wow was I wrong. I have been a devoted Frette towel girl for many years. I just received my bath and hand towels and I am absolutely hooked!!!! I was so dry so quickly!! Great product!!

LOOOOVE the softness of this towel....perfect thickness too. It doesn't absorb as well as other Bersuse towels....but it is lux and makes a lovely throw!

This is my second order of Turkish towels from this company & my family loves them. Soak them immediately overnight- no fabric softener allowed! The process to break them in (become most absorbent) is a bit tedious, but well worth the time invested.

Pure white pestemal towels are difficult to find. Bersuse has solved the problem. Reasonable middle weight quality, lovely diamond weave texture. Have not used long yet, so time will have to tell about durability and absorbency. But it looks very promising. Thank you.

Ich bin sehr unzufrieden mit der Qualität bzw. der Verarbeitung. Die schwarzen Kettfäden haben sich nach dem ersten Waschen gelöst und somit hat das Tuch sich hinter den gedrehten Fäden ca. 3 cm aufgelöst. Das Gewicht stimmte auch nicht. 300 Gramm auf der Waage. Für eine Retoure leider zu spät.

I have many Turkish towels and this one is by far my favorite. It is thicker and softer than the others , absorbs well and dries quickly. The white towel is too beautiful for the beach . I use it in the bathroom
