I bought this set as a replacement for glass Pyrex bowls that had broken or become chipped. The set seems high quality and has more heft than I had expected. The bowls could easily be used as serving bowls or salad bowls in a casual setting. The first use was for popcorn. The size of the large bowl was a perfect match for the maximum capacity of my air popper.

As the headline states. These look nice but are not very practical for the sole fact that they are very light weight and hollow and they will dent very very easily. I'm going to submit a question to the seller and find out exactly what they consider "insulation" because "AIR" IS NOT INSULATION!! THIS IS FALSE ADVERTISING. All this company has done is create a void with air so your not touching the direct hot surface. If you strike the side lightly with another object the bowl rings like a bell so they are hollow. If they were insulated and you struck the side of one with an object the sound would be deadened. I truly thought I was buying something with some "Heft" to it but that's not the case. These things are feather light. I've also spoke to Amazon support and they are going to investigate the seller. Despite what the manufacture considers insulation it's up to the seller to make sure the description of the products they sell are accurate and not misleading. AGAIN, AIR IS NOT INSULATION NO MATTER WHAT THE MANUFACTURE MIGHT SAY AND FOR THE THIRD PARTY SELLER TO CONTINUE ON WITH THE CHARADE MAKES THEM JUST AS GUILTY AS THE MANUFACTURE.UPDATE: THE SELLER NEVER ANSWERED MY QUESTION AS TO WHAT IT CONSIDERS INSULATION. This is a clear sign that my assessment is correct that there is no insulation between the double wall (nothing but air). AGAIN, AIR IS NOT AN INSULATOR!!!!!!

These are the best bowls. Heavy duty, smooth and the large bowl is actually large. Really good quality and this is one of my best purchases from Amazon!

Great size - 48 ounces. Because nobody fills their bowls so that stuff sloshes out, this probably holds a reasonable 36 to 38 ounces, enough for me (2 cans of Progresso), with refilling the bowl 1 time.The soup stayed hot all the way to the bottom, and the outside of the bowl only got slightly (minimally) warm.I also tried some ice cream, it stayed cold, with only a little softening at the bottom (not ice cream soup); the outside of the bowl got a bit cool - not cold.I'm amazed at the results, because even though it's a double wall bowl, the top is open, and I thought that might lead to cooling or warming, but I guess because you eat from the top of the bowl, down to the bottom; where the temperature would change would be the top. (I hope that makes sense to you).Two things I think would make it a 5 star product:1) The bowl's walls are thick, and while it's comfortable to hold from below & from the side (same time); I found myself wishing for a side handle, for a more sturdy hold while camping or even sitting in front of the tv. eating ice cream.2) If it had a lid, you could set it off to the side for a bit, and it would maintain the temperature of the food, and keep the flies out of your food.

I'm glad these are not filled with some insulating goop which would double (or triple) the weight just to marginally increase the chill time. I have a small "freezer serving bowl" filled with some viscous liquid that does not stay chilled for even an hour on a serving table. I have not experienced any dings with this set, but then I do not clang my bowls inside or out! The weight is more substantial than my conventional stainless bowls, but much lighter than glass or ceramic. Just right. Wish these had a rim (for gripping/holding on the edge) and an optional set of lids! That would make them perfect. Price has come down, so I am buying a set for my daughter-in-law who really enjoys baking. I appreciate the 18/10 stainless, brushed interior and the shape. Would have preferred not to have such predominant logo as I bought my set primarily for serving.

Ignore the reviewer adamant that air cannot act as an insulator. Patently false. While a total vacuum or inert gas such as argon is a superior insulator over air, *any* stagnant gas is better than a metal bridge, the atoms just aren't close or convecting, it's thermodynamics 101. Double walled bodum mugs and 90% of double pane windows (that argon seal doesn't last) operate on the fact that a gas bridge is a very serviceable insulation.Overall a great buy and super happy.

Practical, durable, lightweight, beautiful

I just purchased these items, they are larger than they seem which is good for us. But the main feature that makes them unique is they are insulated, so you will not burn your hands when washing them or using hot contents. The only downside is they took a long time to arrive but they arrived in perfect shape.
